So, this PM I met with the florist that had been recommended to me. I was told she does the most ''interesting'' work in town and sure enough when I showed up, there was a slightly punky lady with a big armband tatoo and a shop full of extremely cool florals (think moss, sculptural twigs... curly kale (yum!)

She said the owner is very traditional, but has let her hype up the ''we do funky flowers!'' thing which has given them a niche.

I sat down with her and showed her the dress and pics of the venue and said ''What can you do that would be REALLY WACKY!'' so she got all excited that someone was going to let her do her thang, with minimal interference. She''s my own personal flower artiste! Trained originally in haute couture. She asked me to trust her, which I''m totally willing to do. But she also asked me to send her pics of things that I like so that she can get more of a sense of my taste.

So, ladies, I''m asking you: have you seen pics of extremely unusual bouquets? Especially if they incorporate things that aren''t normally in bouquets? (like, say, feathers? curly kale? ahhhh... anything else?)

I''m thrilled with her so far. We really hit it off. Plus she sent me off with a bouquet of purple somethingorothers for my Grammy free of charge.

Are you sure they were somethingorothers? Could you be remembering forgetmenots? Or whatchamacallits? Or dohickeys?

I have seen some cool ones...not sure where...but I do remember the feather ones really stand out. There is some flower that I was picturing for your dress...this was prior to learning you hired the cream of the crop...tatoo lady. I don''t know what these are called but they look like a round puff on a stick. So similar to what a calla is ...long stem...and then pouff! The flower part.

I think your dress can pull of spikey real well.

Bet you are excited to have her design it! Must be thrilling.

This is pretty funky:

This bouquet just contains flowers, but it isn''t your typical bridal bouquet. I love it (and it''s still pretty funky):

DKS, are you thinking of ornamental onions?

http://www.flower-gardening-made-easy.com/alliums.html

They come in all sizes and the larger ones are pretty spectacular. Some of them do however smell fainly (or not-sofaintly) of onion.

Or maybe you''re thinking of protea?

They can be very spectacular...
I''m going to chime in as the voice of conservatism here.

Your silver gown is dramatic in its own right. It could carry an over-the-top bouquet, but you would risk looking like you were walking down a runway rather than an aisle. Personally, I''d go for simple and sophisticated. A stem (or a few stems) of stunning orchids or antherium, for example.

Another cool bouquet:

I used baby ornamental cabbages in arrangements for a big event last year - they looked amazing combined with pink roses, green and pink parrot tulips and lots of greenery.

I''ll try and find some pics

This one I saved from the knot a while back has peacock feathers in it.

Just something I found while browsing. I thought the wire would match your silver dress...although I think you could probably go with a little less wire but you get the idea. I like it. :D

And here''s something crazy different!! Cotton Bouquets!!! After you''re done with it you could make yourself some thread to make a shirt or something! :D

Woweeeee! I am loving that first one EBree posted with the red feathers. I don''t think I''d go with the same colours, but I just think the shape and balance of feathers to flowers is fabulous.

I also love Ladyciel''s peacock feather bouquet. i saw some boutonieres somewhere that just had a peackock feather with a single orchid flower attached and loved it. So, this would match.

The wire idea is also great.

The one with the dangly bits that matches the structured quality of the dress is really cool too. I love the way the florist made it enhance the uniqueness of the dress like that.

April: that wire bowl is COOL.

But the cotton bouquets. Now that takes the cake. That is so extremely fabulous and looks great with those lovely green dresses. Plus convenient for removing make-up at the end of the evening.

Check out the gallery here! (it''s a flash slideshow, so I couldn''t insert the pics!)

Here''s are a few others...feathers do seem to be a theme..

EBree I LOVE that feathery one you posted, now THAT is too COOL!

This is what I used. My BM made them. Not sure if they really count since they don''t have real flowers.

Sure they count! They''re love, Nytemist.

Here are some from the emplume.com site (which I''m now VERY excited about! how cool! Plus you can keep your bouquet for years to come). That would mean firing my florist, though, at least for the central bouquet. But since we''ve only had one meeting, I think that would be OK.

Haha! that last one I posted (with the black and red) kind of looks like a deep sea creature. RAWRR! I wonder if it bites? I really like it though. Here''s a less... aggresive one.

Or what about this one?

The red feathers with pink roses is my favorite, hands down. Here is my oddest saved bouquet:

IG I dunno about the grey holey things in the white feather one...they look sort of odd but not in a good way! What are they??

Hey Rainbow... I have NO IDEA what those gray hole things are! I think I''ve seen them before but I can''t remember where...I don''t know if they are animal vegetable or minral. Maybe worms live in them? OK, that''s gross.

I think the feathery rose one at hte top is my fave too. Followed by the weird-sea-creature black and red feather one (with less aggresive coloured feathers). Followed by the cotton ball bouquets (which won''t work with my metal dress).

They're a seed pod, but I can't remember from what. I remembered...lotus seed pods.

Oh yeah! lotus! That''s kind of neat, actually, and doesn''t it have lots of good symbolism?

Check this one out! I just found it. not thrilled with the colour scheme though.
