Okay, ladies, it''s official: I am knee deep in the planning details, now.

I''m planning on wearing a bridal hat instead of a veil, so now I''m just working on figuring out which type of hat I''d like to wear.

Did anyone wear a bridal hat instead of a veil? IndyGal--I totally see you choosing a bridal hat over a veil, are you? Not sure why I see this, but it just seems to fit you.

Please post inspiration pictures if you have any.

Here''s an example:

Haha! Haven, you''ve nailed me. I even started a thread about this a long while ago. I loooove hats, and actually had a collection when I was younger. For a wedding hat, I highly recommend a Toronto milliner called ''Lilliput''. I have one of their feather hats that I bought at a craft show in Chicago once and it is extraordinarily elegant and beautiful and attracts a lot of comment. Actually, it got me into the Society pages once when I wore it to a fundraiser!

I went to the actual store a ways back when I was in Toronto on business and it was like a playground! They mostly do custom work, so there was a range of ladies in there aged from 20 to 80 s fussing over feathers, fascinators, and fabrics, moving this a little over there, that over here. It was very neat. Here''s their website. I can absolutely vouch for the excellence of their craftwork. And I''m sure they''ll do anything on their website to match your dress.

A little caveat: you need to either go with a simple hat or a simple dress. Both is just too much. So with your big poufy, I''d aim for a simple hat without too much going on. For the same reason, I''ll only actually be doing a hat if I end up with a simple dress for WP1. With the silvery crinkly one, it would be too overwhelming.

IndyGal--I knew you were a hat gal, I just knew it! Thank you so very much for the recommendation, I am off to idle away the evening browsing on their website.

I must admit I am quite sad that I won''t be able to do an elaborate hat because of my large, poufy dress, and when the saleswoman brought that dress out for me to try I actually said something like "Oh, no, that won''t do--then I''ll have to give up my grand hat!"

Alas, I fell in love with the dress, so here I am, looking for a simple hat.

I love hats, too. I actually studied costume design in undergrad just so I''d be able to enroll in the millinery classes. They were heaven! I''m hoping to do some sort of hat-making party in lieu of a bridal shower, and all the ladies can make hats to wear for the wedding day. It''s a personal goal of mine to bring hats back into vogue, so my wedding is a fine time to begin, right?

Ooooh... check out the 'orchid headpiece' under 'couture hats'. Can you imagine that one in white with the right dress? GAH!

Oh, and I love the one you posted. That look is to die for.

Those hats are absolutely lovely! I would almost think that you could do a dress with a little punch of color to match one of the colored hats? That orchid one was a gorgeous color scheme, I really liked it!
