Show Me Your Dream Bathrooms

HI:

I think @missy you started a thread like this a while back--but I couldn't find it. It would be great to compare and see if peoples tastes have changed!!

I like white and light grey themes. And blue. But truth be told, we (especially my DH) cannot get in and out of those deep tubs anymore. Love the look tho!

cheers--Sharon

Space heaters are fire hazards. Wouldn't want one in the house....let alone BR!! And mats are easily replaced and can spruce up a space...easier than a reno! JMHO.

When we put on the addition to our has in Massachusetts one of the things I absolutely wanted was a way to heat the bathroom. under tile heating was not only expensive but, you really want it on its own breaker. I wasn't ready for that. I started researching and found exhaust fans that have quite robust heating for bathrooms and those things can get pretty fancy.

Here in Florida its not something I need, but yeah if I were doing a bathroom where it got cold, it would be something I would do again.

I actually have a rug in the main bathroom which is a ruggable (with 2 crazy dogs I need such things). Its very nice, the floor doesn't get wet, no mold, and I hang it when I'm done in the shower. Plus easy peasy on the washing.

You know, I thought it sounded familiar but when I did (a quick) search before posting I couldn't find it...let me search again LOL

@canuk-gal is this the thread you're thinking of?

One of my close girlfriend’s and her husband have a beautiful guest bathroom which we have the pleasure of using when we stay.
Not the greatest photo I was focusing on the view.

Love a good view. We have a similar view in our bathroom

We have an original Art deco bathroom that I’m very proud of and I redid our back bathroom on a shoe string budget and like the result.

Love this Bron. Very nice! Reminds me of my very first apartment as an adult out on my own. I decorated entirely in art deco. I loved it. Totally my style.

I already have my dream bathroom.

Okay Mr. DeMille, it's ready for its closeup. ...

LOL just your style Kenny. Lovely
That must have cost a pretty penny :)

It did, indeed!
But I figure, you only live once.

100% agree. We gotta go for our dreams because otherwise what's the point?!!!
I may not share your taste (haha) but I agree with your sentiment completely :)

I have a ruggable in the bathroom too. Also use one to stand on while at the sink in the kitchen. Very easy since they can be washed. I need to step out of the shower onto something and don't like using a towel.

How well has your ruggable rug held up after washes? I have considered them a few times as I have two toddlers and anything washable is a plus lol.

Since I’m commenting, I’ll add my dream bathroom. I love Calacatta Viola marble. It is definitely dramatic which is not everyone’s cup of tea. I love natural stone, the patterns/movement feel like art to me. I also don’t mind the etching that occurs with marble (though don’t ask me about the vinegar mix that was sprayed on my current marble lol). I would be very particular about the slab choice but I would love it as a counter/sink (hello waterfall countertop) or even as an accent piece. It feels like art to me, especially when used sparingly as a statement. Add some dark wood for grounding, interesting architecture, natural stone floor with a slight texture and you have my dream bathroom. I mean if I’m getting picky add heated floor, towel warmer, lovely natural light, claw foot tub…etc. :lol-2:

Calacatta Viola does seem to be a trendy marble these days but I looked everywhere for it when I redid a bathroom a few years ago and could not find anything in my area. I can’t find good inspo pics of an entire bathroom so I’ll just add two pics of marble slabs. I just love that every piece is unique.

Fun thread!

So pretty Bee24..it is a piece of art and incredibly dramatic I agree.

I too love marble but generally prefer minimalist style with a very simple (as in no haha) pattern. I searched high and low for our kitchens to do white marble but all I could find are patterns that for me were too busy so went with an all white quartz at the beach house kitchen and all black granite in our NYC Co-op. We have marble in all four of the bathrooms here and my DH's marble counter is very pretty. Mainly white with some veining. However, I do not care for the way my bathroom was done as it's too beige so that's why I am planning on redoing my bathroom here. Here is a sample of my beige marble

I hate the color and the whole bathroom is beige. I am redoing it white mainly with blue accents.

I've been wanting to redo since we moved here in 2011 but it takes a lot of energy and I have been procrastinating lol. We will have to move out as I have a low tolerance for living through renovations

When I get my act together and finally renovate I will share here.

So far so good. They are each about 2 years old. I wash them fairly regularly, especially the one in the kitchen, next to the sink. Both are small. I can't speak to larger ones. Maybe you could get a smaller one and try it out to see what you think before going for something larger.

I have a love hate relationship with remodels. I love the design process but the actual work always takes forever and I hyper analyze everyone’s work…plus the dust! I totally understand leaving the house. I have one bathroom left to remodel in our current house but cannot imagine dealing with it these days!

I love your inspo picture. When I couldn’t get my favorite Calacatta I found a much more muted version with light grey veining and I truly love it. The original counter was actually quite similar to your beige and I also needed some white/grey! Please show your remodel as it progresses, I love living vicariously through others remodels-no dust but all the lovely design!
