I''m curious to see what everyone''s planning to or thinking of wearing!

Do you have lots of glittery jewels, or just a couple understated pieces?

Hi Musey,

Don''t have my dress quite picked out yet, but I always loved the look of a simple dress with a nontraditional necklace, like this one http://www.shopnbc.com/product/?familyid=J300510&storeid=1&page=LIST&free_text=mother%20of%20pearl&category=Jewelry|t305&prop=Necklaces|174&catprop=174&track=-20101&cm_re=SearchList-_-N-_-N (wouldn''t let me save pic). Something chunky and fun!

Now, whether I actually go this route or not depends on how simple a dress I end up with and how sparkly it is.

I love this look from Jim Hjelm. He uses lots of nontraditional jewelry- I love it!

Ooh! Labbie-- if I get a sparkly dress and forego the beaded necklace, I planned on getting a whiteaisle bracelet too! The big sparkly bracelets like that remind me of glamous old movie actresses.

I also love this look-- a splash of color and can coordinate if you put feathers in your bouquet--

i''d like to get something a little different, and luxurious feeling, but something i''ll actually wear again. my current faves are green amethysts... like this

I totally wanted to copy Jcrows sparkly earrings from her wedding, but then I was looking at sweetpea''s wedding stuff, and saw that she had copied jcrow already....which wouldn''t be a big deal, but I unknowingly copied sweetpea''s dress! So to have the same dress AND earrings as her? lol.
Not that I think copying is a bad thing...believe me I plan on doing a whole lot of it so keep posting pics. But I don''t want to copy sweetpea''s TOTAL wedding ensemble style. I think I may go with pearl drop earrings instead, if I can find some pretty ones with swavorski crystals or something.

AceP where did you find those AMAZING green amethyst earrings???

This is the bracelet I''ll be wearing. I got a jeweler to copy it from Tiffany''s Victoria bracelet. Each stone is 0.2 cts. I absolutely love it.

I do have a wedding set but I''m still thinking about whether to wear it.

I will be posting pictures of my wedding gown in another thread. I''m not loving it right now....so maybe you guys could give me your honest opinion.

I'd love to know where you got these, too...I think they might match the guys' shirts! Please share if you don't mind!

ETA: I think I found them here.

Yup, Harleigh, you got it. There aren''t too many options online, but I''ve found that most nicer jewelers stock a handful of pieces. The color is amazing - like a minty green. I''m thinking earrings and a necklace might be in order!

Just a quick note that I hope no-one gets offended by.

There is no such thing as natural 'green amethyst' - there is a thread on it in the coloured stone forum.

Richard M's comments were that it is heated amethyst or citrine quartz from some where in Brazil. It's called 'prasiolite' which means 'leek green' in Greek, and should be pretty cheap in price. The colour can apparently fade with exposure to the sun.

Yup, i''ve heard that it''s heated amethyst. I''m not really worried about it not being of the same "category" as sapphires or rubies - I just think the color is gorgeous! And, of course, since it''s cheaper you can get substantial-sized pieces, which is nice.

misysu2, do you happen to know the style number of the dress in the pic you posted? I can''t seem to find it anywhere!

wow acep!! those earrings are simply gorgeous!

i''d love to see real pictures of them if/when you make your purchase!!!

Cool, I just wanted to make sure that no-one was getting ripped-off by some unscrupulous salesman - and throw out the warning about the colour fading.

They are very pretty I agree - and bigger is always good!

Thanks for reminding us of that Pandora! I always see the stones listed as "green quartz" and yes it is usually fairly inexpensive, so when I saw the link Harleigh posted I was so shocked!!!

Oh well, the hunt continues for awesome wedding jewelry!

Assuming I wear the dress I picked out three years ago with a future beau - I had bought this necklace and matching earrings.
From not that far away the bottom pearls appear to be floating and the ''dance'' when your body moves.
I loved the look of them with my V-neck vintage dress.

misysu2, Thanks for the dress info! I will see if I can find one near me.

My wedding necklace - it was a gift from my parents on my last birthday, coincidentally the day that we told them that we were getting married! So, doubly significant ... it''s going to be my "something blue" (well, one of many somethings, as it''s my favorite color). We''re eloping on a beach, so it''ll either be worn with a simple strapless white cotton dress, or with a peacock-colored, v-necked Nicole Miller dress (we''re getting married Monday, and I haven''t decided yet - eek!). Rich yellow gold, rough yellow diamonds, and a Paraiba tourmaline ....

Circe I would love to see the Nicole Miller dress if you have a photo- I am so intrigued!!

If you don''t mind terrible, terrible photos, sure! Taken by the FI to try to give my friends back home some idea of what I''ll be wearing:

Version 1: Demure

Peacock Dress 2 Blanked Out.JPG

And, Version 2: A little more typically me ....

The Peacock Dress gets its name from, a) the color, b) the fact that though you can''t see it, it has the only flattering butt-bow in the world ... what could otherwise be termed a tail, and c) the gold and silver peacock feathers embroidered over the bodice.

What I am planning on as my jewellery:

Earrings - I'd love a pair of tsavorite studs with pearl drops to hang from them. I'm already searching for the tsavs - around 5mm I think.

Tiara - If I can lay my hands on a really good one. I would love one of the ones in the Royal Jewels thread in Hangout.

Necklace - My vintage 1940's japanese pearls:

where are the green amethysts from? i like them!!

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I''d contribute.

Picked out over Thanksgiving, my something borrowed: My mom''s peridot and opal ring, set in yellow gold, given to her by her father - my namesake who I never met.

SOrry for the crappy webcam picture
