Show your halos with 0.5 pointer melee!

I am thinking of a delicate halo for my 1.23ct oval (8.44mmx6mm) and even if Pete at Quest roughly suggested using 1 pointer melee for the halo, I am thinking more 0.5 pointers because I really want something delicate. I also want the oval bezel set. Anyone have a halo with 0.5 pointers that you can show me? Please also mention your center stone size and finger size (I am a 4). Thanks a bunch!!!

My halo is half-pointers and I wouldn't want it any bigger. My center stone is 1.6 cts, size 5.75 finger.

fiona, .05 pointers won't create the look of a delicate halo. If anything, those melee would be pretty big. I myself, am going to reset my pear diamond wedding set into a custom made Daussi setting and Yekutiel gave me the choice of .03 pointers (which in Daussi's rings is usually more like .035 pointers) and .05 pointers. Since I have six projects going before that one, I have time to think about it and to see examples of the differences, but I can tell you from my preliminary shopping that I'll probably go with the .03s. I don't want to have the halo looking terribly disproportionate. YKWIM? My pear is 10.51 x 6.65 just for comparison sake. Of course, just like color and clarity, all of these choices are in the eye of the beholder (wearer).

I amkind of confused. I thought that 0.5 points, not carats is already pretty small... I think it's about 1mm? 1 pointer is 0.01 carats,no?So 0.035 pointers is like 0.00035 carats?? I am lost...

No you're right. Half-pointers are 0.005 ct. I think gemgirl just misread your post and thought you meant 5 pointers (which I did too until I looked more closely).

I think I remember that Gypsy's halo is with half-pointers. She has a gorgeous set! Hopefully she won't mind me reposting a pic of it for you.
Unfortunately I don't know the rest of the stats you wanted. But if you search, you'll find them.

My halo had single pointers, on a .72 RB centre. I never liked how small the melee was, too small to see as individual stones or to really refract well, even though they were nice quality stones.

I wouldn't say they're huge, but they're not tiny either. My sapphire is 1.68ct, halo is .60ctw F VVS2 diamonds and ring size is a 6. Hope this helps OP!

Hi Fiona!! My halo is made of 0.5 pointers and I love it -- it just glistens! My stone is 2.43 ct. and I wear a size 5 (ring is currently a size 5.5, but a little large). Can't wait to see what you decide!
