Hey ladies,

I need your help. What are some great ideas for shower hostess gifts?

Next weekend my FIs parents are hosting an engagement party and my bridal party is also hosting a kitchen shower. I have no clue what to get them?

I got my shower hostesses live hibiscus plants since the shower had a tropical theme and we were going to Hawaii on our honeymoon.

For our engagment party, i got our hosts (non-parent) a NIIIIIIICE, large bottle of Vodka and a gorgeous silver frame. After the wedding we gave them one of our wedding pictures to put in the frame.

What''s a ''kitchen shower''?

I''ve never planned a wedding before. Is it proper etiquette for the bride to give a gift to the person who hosts the bridal shower, say the MOH?

I''ve been given a hostess gift at showers that I have hosted. Kitchen stuff is the theme. I just had an idea. pink aprons with their names mongramed!

or not that will be pricey since I need 9 of them. Maybe a chocolate letter of their first initial.

when i was a hostess to my FSIL''s shower, i was given a large tyler (sp?) candle.

hi appletini,

since it''s a kitchen theme, how about something from William Sonoma for gift idea''s, they even have a Hostess gift secition...

or what about getting each of them a nice candle, voluspa makes great ones http://www.voluspacandles.com or perhaps a little something from L''occitane, www.loccitane.com.

My MOH hosted my shower, so it was easier since I only needed one gift, but with nine girls things can get expensive...

what''s your budget per person? What about a cook book for each of them?

I''ve been wondering the same thing, my shower is next week and I have no idea what to get the bm.

BTW, those of you who have given/gotten shower hostess gifts, were they presented at the shower? Or afterward?

I hosted a shower last year with 4 other girls and we al received little kate spade makeup bags in the mail ~1 week after the shower (we all lived in different cities). I don''t think the gifts are given at the shower. I think that would take away a bit from the bride''s gifts? And sometimes the showers are surprises, so how would the bride know to bring gifts?

We always get them at the end of the shower. Yesterday I went and bought a chocolate block letter for each person with their first initial. They were $8 each x 9 = $72 +tax. Next month I have another brunch shower but that is only two people, and also the BFs friends are having a stock the bar shower for us on St. Patty''s day, so I''ll do wine for that one.

I looked at the WS site, but my friends aren''t into food and cooking as much as I am, so I thought they''d like the chocolate more.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I love the cookbook idea, but the one I want "food for friends" or something like that, I have already given to one girl for her birthday. A lot the ideas I had, I''ve already given at least one person as a gift before.

A "stock the bar" shower--I''ve never heard of that but I love it! What a great idea!!

i received mine either before everyone got there, or after everyone left. i''m not sure. but it definitely wasn''t in front of all of the guests.

thank gals for the input regardng the gifts... I will be giving them afterwards!! which is great bc I have no idea what I''m getting them! haha...

appletini sorry to sorta hijack your thread!

For your future in-laws, how about a nice Nambe bowl? I love Nambe but almost never buy it for myself since they are so expensive. When I buy gifts, I try to think of what the receiver would enjoy but wouldn''t normally buy for themselves.

Hijack away, I know this thread will be very helpful to others.

His parents love making specialy cocktails, so since the e-party is a mexican theme, I think we are going to get them a margarita/tequila cocktail book and very nice and expensive bottle of tequila.
