Hey guys,

I know its not too wise of me to purchase the diamonds then ask for views on them ! But bluenile has an exchange policy. :twirl:

So pls tell me your opinions on them ? I am purchasing them for earrings.
They both score under 2 on the HCA and Bluenile confirmed that they are both eye clean, except for the crystal and cloud inclusion being on the table top.

I think these are very well matched overall. (table, depth, diameter, CA/PA combos, even lgf%s) I wondered about the crystal in looking at the report. Did the rep say they would be eyeclean if not for the crystal and cloud, or that they are eye clean, but the inclusions aren't in the best place? Most people aren't as picky about earring clarity, and you probably won't notice the inclusions much in this size (which is great, btw! ). I think it would be worth a shot!

Thanks !

That's the reply I got was as follows:

The diamond was deemed eye-clean. The inclusions are a white crystal and a black and white crystal on table
"Eye clean" means that a layperson examining the diamond face-up from a distance of six to eight inches would not be able to see any flaws, but it is not a guarantee that no flaws would ever be visible no matter how closely you scrutinized the diamond. If you want assurance that the diamond's flaws would never be visible no matter closely examined, I would recommend choosing a diamond with at least VS2 clarity.

Keep in mind that the people inspecting these diamonds are skilled cutters and graders that know what to look for. So if they say that it is eye clean from 6-8 inches away from the eye then I am confident you wont see them unless you look closer than that length or unless you use magnification.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed since this is my first time buying diamonds over the www!

Ok. I think what I'm hearing is that from a distance it isn't noticeable, but if you were looking at it close up it would be. This is your call-how clarity sensitive are you? It is possible to get SI1s without black inclusions. (That's the one that has me worried for you.) All in all, BN does have a great return policy and it is probably worth the shot if you don't mind the inclusions. That said, are there any more pairs they can pull for you that might be cleaner? Are you trying to stick to a certain budget?

BN is not generally very helpful with their "eye clean" assessments. That statement from them looks like a stock thing they send to people. BUT that said, in diamond this size it is likely that they are indeed eye clean. But do not be surprised if they are not.

Numbers look good. You are paying a lot for color and in earrings I think it is safe to go lower, G/H for sure, since they do not get the same scrutiny, but if you like E color go for it.

ditto PPs - they look very nicely matched by the numbers, and BN has a generous return policy :))

For earrings personally I like shallower stones, for three reasons
1) shallower stones tend to spread better stones with than "cherry TIC" proportions for the same ct wt
2) more importantly, light return is less affected by dirt/grease with shallower pavilion, and dirty pavilions are inevitable on earrings

Stones w/ less depth also show less body tint face-up, but if you're going with Es this isn't an issue for you..

Indeed! I was really worried but I thought with the mentioned of experts not seeing it Im praying it be fine.

I checked with Bn on the clarity of many rocks and it's seem really difficult to get a nicely cut rock that is eye clean.

I'm not exactly that particular about color but more on clarity. Guess I lost focus for a while.

I should just keep my fingers crossed till they arrive next week then.

Very exciting !

They have arrived ! and indeed they are eye clean..

I will post up pictures once they are settled into the earrings. :twirl:

:appl: congrats!!!

Yay!!! :appl: Can't wait to see them!

Lovely. I have a pair of diamonds just that size (0.42 and 0.43 ct) from BN set into earrings, also both SI1, and they are eye clean and gorgeous. I love the size. They basically told me that SI1s from BN that size are going to be eye clean. I suspect they just trust their standards, and don't check on every stone.

Looking forward to your pictures. :appl:
