Recently there have been posts about support, prayers and well-wishes for ill or deceased loved ones. Although she''s not as servere as others, I really wanted to post about my grandmother in hopes from some prayers.

My grandma is 82 years old and a real go-getter. She fell yesterday and broke her shoulder. They set it and returned her home with pain medication. I really hope she heals well with no further complications.

I figured it was about time for something to happen. Things had been going too smoothly with my grandparents (my grandfather is 81).

I really, really hope it is an isolated incident. Several years back, my grandfather had the same thing happen to him. It was followed up by several heart complications, knee surgery and elbow trouble- one thing right after the other. He has recovered and is in as-best-as-can-be-expected-good-health. (They are a go-getting pair.)

I really hope that she does well, recovers quickly and is ok. I have always been scared to death to lose them. I am the only grandchild in our small family. They mean the world to me.

Jcrow, I hope that your Grandmother will recover fully and go on to live for a very, very long time. Being such a go-getter, I am sure that she will be back on her feet in no time! She will be in my thoughts.

I wish you and your Grandparents well,

Bridget

jcrow...sending best thoughts your grandma's way...

Both my parents lived well into their nineties. When my mom was in her eighties she fell and broke BOTH her arms...but she healed pretty well and was around to love for quite a few years more.

Watching our loved ones age and become more and more frail is so hard, but also so much part of life...just love and enjoy them as much as you can now.

As my mom and dad often said: "Growing old isn't for sissies".

Take care,

prayers outgoing.

jcrow,
You certainly have my prayers. I bet she will heal nicely. It''s a set back, but as you say she is a go getter. I pray she is back to her normal routine very soon. {{{{HUGS}}}} Lisa

Oh Jcrow you have my prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery for your Grandmother. My Mother is 82 and just flew back to Houston today after visiting us for two weeks over the holiday. I understand how fragile they can be at that age even when they seem to be doing so well.

My heart goes out to you. My parents are elderly and keep being patched up. They both had operations at the same time this past summer. I (and my 13 year-old daughter) feel about them as you do about your grandparents. They are so dear, so wonderful, that we treasure every moment with them.

You and your grandparents will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Deb :-)

I hope she heals quickly and with a return to the spring in her step!!

jcrow, you have my best thoughts for your grandmother to heal fully and completely! She and your grandfather sound like a lovely couple and I know your love will keep them strong.

JCrow, you have my prayers, although I bet she will be just fine! It certainly helps that she is in great shape for her age

JCrow,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your grandmother. It''s very hard to watch the people we love grow older. More power to your grandparents for being such go-getters and still running hard as they age.

Thank you all so much for all of the thoughts and well-wishes. You guys do my heart good.

I just got off the phone with my grandmother. She isn''t in any pain, though the pain meds make her nauseous so it''s difficult to eat anything. She fell while on a ladder and hit her elbow on the ground. Though she never specified, I think (by her explanation) she fractured a thin cup-like bone that goes over her shoulder. Basically they put her arm in a sling and wrap, gave her pain meds and sent her home. She is going to an orthopedic surgeon Monday or Tuesday. She and my aunt tried going to see one today, but had no luck because of the holidays.

She''s so funny. I asked her if my grandpa had seen her outside (where she fell) or something. She said "Oh no! I got up and walk inside the house." She said it matter-of-factly like I should know better. I giggled. I asked her if it hurt a lot when it happened. She said "Yeh," in a soft voice, "I knew something wasn''t right." Then she laughed.

We had a good little chat. It was really, really good talking with her- although I had just talked to her Wednesday. She seems in high spirits.

Thanks again to all of you for everything!

I echo everyone''s sentiments. My thoughts and prayers go out to your Grandma, too!!!

You''re in my thoughts and prayers. :)

jcrow, I will pray that your grandmother pulls through okay and makes a rapid recovery. Make sure she gets a lot of home cooking to keep her strength up. Best wishes.

thanks everyone for the kind words. I thought i would update all on her state. Last week, my grandma saw the orthopedic surgeon. He put her under anestisia (sp?), and popped her arm into place - i guess it was dislocated as well as being fractured. She went though that seemingly fine. he told her that she had to remain in a strappy-brace thing for 10 days without any movement what-so-ever. then he will see her again at the end of 10 days to see how she is doing. he said that most people in her case do not need further surgery. The only possible problem is her age. we will have to see.

she has had some swelling in her elbow and hand. i think they are giving her a bit of medication for that too.

thank you again for all of your thoughts and prayers. It is exactly what my family needed.

We appreciate the update on your Grandmother''s condition Jcrow. I am glad to hear she is doing pretty well under the circumstances and hopefully surgery will not be necessary.
