I cannot seem to get my post to go through, so apologies if this ends up as a repeat.
I'm excited to share this lovely claddagh-inspired snake ring created by Cheyenne Weil as a modification of one of her standard designs.
In January, my husband and I welcomed our first baby after many years of trying and loss. We wanted to do something special with Cheyenne, as she made my husband's wedding ring and my daily right-hand ring.
We adapted her amphisbanae solitaire to be reminiscent of a claddagh ring that will be worn on my middle or index finger. The snake body holds 7 small diamonds--one for each year we tried and did not get to a live baby--and the center large diamond represents our amazing and unexpectedly successful 8th year. The snakes' eyes are demantoid garnets for our January baby, the crown holds rubies and amethyst that reflect the rubies in my husband's wedding ring and his birth month, and a small citrine is tucked in behind at the linchpin point to represent me.
The original claddagh design contains three symbols of a relationship-- the crown for loyalty, the heart for love, and the hands for friendship. Our adaptation includes the snake instead of the hands-- representing healing, fertility, and transformation.
Cheyenne did an amazing job and this was admittedly a pretty big modification. She was a great communicator and the final product is heavy, SOLID, and detailed--I love it. Its such a unique piece...certainly not everyone's cup of tea but exactly what I wanted, with lots of excellent details for me to enjoy and symbols of our story. I would highly recommend her work and wouldnt hesitate to do another piece with her.
Her photos on instagram are much better than mine--here are some shots I took in between diaper changes and endless rocking.
