Who else is sitting home stuck in because of snow---in the fall? I''m NOT ready for this weather yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I had been smarter I would have sat at home. Instead I drove 50 miles in 5 hours and *NOW* I am sitting at home! I absolutely love the snow, however, so I am not complaining! For a number of years we had almost no snow and I feared global warming was turning Connecticut into the Carolinas. I am glad to have spent a normal Connecticut winter last year and I hope to have another one this year!

Hmmmm, I just posted in the other snow thread that I thought you guys might be wishing for sun and warmth. I guess I was wrong. In that case, enjoy the snow! AGBF, can you send me some or post some snow pictures?

Ive been out hiking in this stuff. The worst the better. Ive been logging in 3 to 5 miles a night , testing out new layering of clothes and gear, getting ready for a hike up Mt.Rainer in the Spring and Kilomanjaro in the Summer .
Plus the H2 has a nice work out

When you live in the upper Midwest you know this is going to happen

Take Care , keep those parts covered you dont want frozt bit!

I'm stuck home too- and NOT looking forward to shoveling today. But at least we were smart enough to buy our Christmas tree yesterday so we can have fun decorating it later.

I'm just waiting for the wind to die down a bit before getting out the skis and heading to Dunkin' Donuts! %^)

I tried. I took the dog to the park, where he had a great time. I took some video footage of him, but when a tape ran out I decided to use the memory stick and take some photos. They weren't great, but I took them thinking of you. Now I can't install the program that allows me to upload photos from my camera. It appears to be some of the ongoing woes experienced by our "upstairs" computer, the one attached to the DSL line. I have the snow photos on my camera; maybe someday I'll be able to post them!

Since it was a soup kind of day I tried a "new" (for me) recipe for corn chowder. It's from the church in which my mother was brought up, so it starts with sauteeing onions in a stick of butter and ends up with stirring in a quart of half and half. No calories :-).

I tried to get a pic of the snow, but it looks like that Ole Nor'easter missed us!!

K-mom,

I took this photo (and some others) the day you asked me to do so. I haven't had time to play with the computer and the camera until today, however. I am hoping that you will see my Lab, Biscuit, in the park. We are expecting more snow on Wednesday (the day after tomorrow).

Here is a view of the First Congregational Church from the park.

Hey Deb,

It's a good thing I parked my skis right next to the back door, in the loom room. I'm ready to ski to the local supermarket tomorrow and Wednesday, if need be!

Beautiful pictures, AGBF! I love the one with your dog.

AGBF, thanks for posting them. I especially love the view of Biscuit! He doesn't look like he's having any trouble with the cold on his paws.

One thing that I find especially beautiful about snow scenes is the contrast between the white of the snow and whatever it is laying on. I *love* snow against river banks and tree branches.

Blowing warm thoughts your way.

No, he's a big nut. I had to dissuade him from going swimming. He got part way into the pond. He often takes a dip in the Sound (Long Island Sound) when I take him down to the beach in the winter (and that's salt water and *cold*!!!). I didn't even have a *towel* with me on that day, though!

It has been so cold for so long now that the pond is frozen solid, so I won't have to worry about any illicit canine swimming if we go to the park in the next storm :-). Where's canadiangrrl, by the way? This is *her* kind of thread!!!
