Found this stone while browsing IG the other day and was tempted but I couldn't bite because it didn't have a cert. But, I did want to show it to everyone.

It def looks a bit brown to me in certain lighting. It can look more pink in other lighting I’m sure.

I’ve seen one similar to that that was set with a halo with pink pave. It was pretty but still in a bit weird color zone for me.

What is an Illusion diamond?

I think it just means that even though it would be graded as brown, it can look pink in some lights.

I hadn't heard that term before following that IG account, but definitely have seen stones that would fall into that category

An illusion diamond which that one is clearly not is a group of small diamonds mounted together to look like a large diamond.
Here is a classic example, made up of 9 smaller diamonds.

Its a pet peeve of mine when vendors use diamond terms incorrectly because it sounds good for marketing.
I would classify its use in the add linked as being fraudulent in my opinion.

I think its a pretty stone too. I would plan on it looking brownish most of the time and pink in certain lighting. If you're ok with
that then I say go for it. I like the color and would put it in a halo using slightly warm stones. That way you would see a difference
but it wouldn't be a stark difference. Any return policy if you buy it and decide the colors not for you?

I meant to add I also love the pink tint. Is that a mosaic diamond? I’m obviously not firing all my brain neurons this morning…

CLARITY ILLUSION..... I don't like the sound of that.

I read that that way too initially but it’s for VVS2 clarity not related to the Illusion (I think)

Yay, someone bought it. Now I can get it out of my head. I must admit, it looked gorgeous in that first photo.

Oh, well aware of that. The downside is that if it comes back as something other than described, and/or it doesn't look as nice in person, I'm out the cost of the cert.

I have submitted "Paraiba" tourmalines to GIA New York for origin certs and they came back ...not. I went back to the jeweler, and they were willing to work with me on the price of the earrings. Right now, I don't want to deal with the hassle.

What bothers me is the "return" policy...

Wow thanks for that info-& that pic-it's amazing-& I learned something
I have NEVER seen that done in a step cut ever, & would not have thought it could be pulled off that well. It must take a considerable amount of skill to pull that off & set it.
I have seen a few really well done rounds clustered together in antique cuts in the past.
