A $3,000 mattress set.

I tried finding some kind of link to it but Im not finding it online. It's called the Kingsdown Body Surround. Oh man is this thing worth every penny! Its like sleeping on a cloud...*sigh*

We layed on a Tempurpedic (hard as a rock and really "warm") and a Select Comfort (why on earth is there a huge metal bar in the middle! There wasn't a better way to separate air chambers?) then we went to the Bedroom Store....and checked this out. You lay on this air matress that measures pressure while you lay there. Then it recommends a matress in their line meant to help with issues like leg and back pain, etc. We bought the one recommended for me, which was one level softer than the one for him. It just felt nicer. The guy showed us other beds in the store similar to that one and they were nice...but we got spoiled...

It got delivered yesterday and oh my lord...it's like buttah. I need a friggin catapult to get into it, its like 4 feet high for chrissake...but my god...it's the best thing I have ever purchased.

ETA: They must have updated their site or it finalyl works for me...here is a link

HI:

Good job--quality mattresses are essential to a good.....(insert variable....). First upgrade????? (on a diamond website not a good question....)

cheers--Sharon

Hopefully ONLY bed upgrade ;) Its got a lifetime replacement on it. If we mess it up or it breaks down in a spot they will replace it free.

If we upgrade my ring we won't be going too much bigger! I can't handle what I have!

Nice!!!! We also got a new set recently..it''s so important to have a good one....I walked in and basically said I''d like to sleep on the floor, what mattress do you have that comes close LOL...Only thing is...after 1 1/2 months, there was already a hill forming in the middle . Grrrrr. It was just replaced this weekend. I''m sure you''ll have better luck. bastards LOL

hehe Greg has had his set for 10 years which apparently is a long time for a mattress set!! i actually really like it and it''s comfy so we aren''t in the market anytime soon. my old set was 3 years old, queen, and it went into our guest room.

it sounds like everything out there is newfangled, what happened to a good old fashioned set?! hehee.

congratulations ame! I know what a struggle it is to find a good mattress, and a good nite''s sleep is worth every penny!!!

My GF and I also bought a new mattress set as our first major purchase. We are getting it from Sleep Country Canada. We went with the Serta Perfect Night, to be delivered this Friday. My GF won''t be my GF for much longer. Todd at Nice Ice told me today that he just received the pave wedding set today from Vatche so we will pick them up this weekend at his store. I was worried that we won''t have the rings in time for our beach wedding in Hawaii in 3 weeks.

Oh isn''t it the best when you have a nice new, comfy mattress?!!

Dh and I bought ours a few months ago, before that we had a hand-me-down FULL SIZE

It was so uncomfortable, creaky, way too small. My husband is a big guy, very tall and broadshouldered and just big! Thank God I''m petite and still had a little room. But it sucked! So we spent the money and got a new one, a king size, it''s fantastic!!!!!!!

I hope all that sleeping you''re going to be doing won''t limit your PS time!!

I''m seriously jealous... we''re sleeping on his parents'' old full-sized platform bed, the one with the split running down the center that''s propped up by a piece of wood *just* lower than the height of the rest of the platform. The mattress is, well.. sagging too.

It''s SO un-sexy, but the first thing I want to get after our wedding is a danged bed and mattress! I love him and all, but both of us fall to the center of the bed and fending off his elbows and knees is getting old. Can''t take the bruising anymore!

Im the one he''s dodging ;)

He is a big guy, in every respect, and we MUST have a king size. Frankly I think they need a BIGGER size...emporer size or something...Im half tempted to take this back and buy two queen sizes. :) We both invade space horribly.

But that said, this bed is just the best. I sleep well on it. He has issues sleeping lately regardless of bed. But I know he''s depressed about his bed they took away (such an old piece of crap that you could literally FOLD the thing in half!) and worked up about the impending layoffs with the Verizon buyout of his company....can''t really blame him for being up a lot.

Congrats on your new mattress set! My husband and I are planning to purchase a new bed w/in the next week (we're moving into our new house this weekend & need new furniture), but are looking for a bargain. . .not $3000. Your bed must be fabulous!

We found that most King beds were over $2K. We found 1 under that and it was pretty crappy and uncomfortable. This is way more than we planned to spend but we figured, what the hell

We''re looking at beds under $1K. Hopefully my husband is able to find a decent bed. We are moving into our new house this weekend and already bought and ordered a ton of furniture and we''ve had to draw the line somewhere, and the bed is it.

we financed this. I felt like 17 payments of 175 was worth it.

HI:

Two months ago, we bought a King Simmons Beautyrest--World Class Connisseur Sheridan--very plush top (wool) and it is a dream to sleep on. Tried the (NASA) type memeory foam, but I think I''d tire of that easily--but my husband really likes his pillow in the same. Love my new mattress---this is the third one we''ve had in twenty years of marriage!!!

cheers--Sharon

ame, I have a Kingsdown bed as well. I bought it last year and I just love it. I need a stepladder to climb into it but it''s like sleeping on a cloud! FI complains that it''s too soft for his liking but I love feeling like I''m sleeping in the middle of a huge pillow! Enjoy!!

Congratulations!!!! Sounds like it''s worth every penny. Nothing like a good nights sleep!!!

Ame, congratulations! It sounds divine!

MC, I know what you mean. We just furnished our living room and while we were at it, I also talked my DH into a bedroom set since we finally have the space for it, so we are spent out in furniture. But, to complete it, we're finally going to retire our bed after 15 years (and 3 kids later

). I found a decent set at Costco of all places. The queen is around $679, the king, slightly more. I'm not going to be ultra pick because I can't really afford to after the other pieces we bought, and I know that at Costco I'll get a decent product for the value and hey, isn't it right around the corner from you?

3 yrs ago when we were scouting out the Seattle area to move to, we passed through the town where the Costco headquarters was located. It was quaint looking and I loved it. I think they moved from there since? Anyway funny story we were en route to Yakima to visit my girlfriend, never drove in snow before and nearly freaked when we saw folks pulling over to put chains on their tires.

But alas, we made it through safely, and through some very beautiful scenery I may add, through the Snoqualmie valley.

We do have Costcos all over the place. One is two miles from us. . .Do you remember the name of the town where you were? I just looked up costco headquarters as I didn''t even know where this is located and it''s currently in Issaquah. Does this town sound familiar? It is a nice area, but developers are taking hold, so it''s not as picturesque as it once was

(we never really head out that way, but drove through during a recent road trip and houses are up everywhere - a bit disappointing.)

Oh and Snoqualmie is AMAZING. We recently took a trip out to the falls during the spring when all the snow was melting and so the water was in full force. The power and rush of the water was incredible!

Ame - okay, sorry about the hijacking. lol! We financed our couch so I''m hesitant to charge anything else! Too many bills already

Sleep well!!!!

I''m so jealous....I have the worst back pain from our stupid mattress! When we first got married we got a Queen Simmon''s Beautyrest, and it was SOOOOOOOO comfy. Then we bought a house with a huge Master bedroom so the queen bed went to the guest room, and we got a Cal King Bedroom set. Because we spent so much on furnishing our new house with new furniture, we skimped on the mattress. I think our cal king mattress set was about $900!! It is SO uncomfortable. First off, the mattress is hard as heck, with no give, and the box springs have super high edges but kind of sink in the middle. As many of you probably know, the box spings under a king mattress are actually seperate singles, so we have his hard ridge in the middle where the 2 single box springs meet. Both of us try to sneak off to the guest room to sleep...unfortunately it''s usually him because I have to stay in our room with my baby daughter

I told my husband that next year''s tax return money is definitely going to a QUALITY new mattress!

Ame - I''m really glad you posted this because it''s got my husband thinking we should put off buying a new bed. I''m reluctant to spend $300 on close out king set (lol!) and finally my husband has agreed this may not be the best option.

Select Comfort (why on earth is there a huge metal bar in the middle! There wasn''t a better way to separate air chambers?)
Ame...I love my select comfort. He likes his side rock solid; I like mine cloud soft. The place that sold it to us set it up so I didn''t know there was a metal bar in the middle. I can tell there''s a separation because of the difference in hardness of the two sides but it doesn''t interfere with activities if ya know what I mean.

The only problem with the bed is that it''s too comfortable. I can barely make myself get up in the morning.

Hi Ame,

I got my mattress at Bedroom Store on Lemay 2 yrs ago and still love the mattress. Kingsdown is a very good brand.

I don''t remember exactly how much we paid...it was about 1500-2000 maybe? I would suggest NOT to skimp on a bed. Doesn''t have to be brand name...but get good quality. Then again, mine already pooped out LMAO! They have those no-name manufacturer warehouses all over and they sell really good stuff!

Same one we bought from. We went there, the Sealy or Serta store (whatever is right next to Circuit City) and then Mattress Giant, got all the stuff we liked written down with the deals and then went home and thought about it for a week. We both kind of felt this splurge was worth it. We haven''t bought ANY furniture yet.

A new mattress is on the top of our "must have" list! We have a queen right now that I love but DH wants a king b/c we are both total bed hogs! You should see our sheets in the morning! They are everywhere! And no...not from extracurricular activities!

Ame -- thanks for the recommendation!

Ohhh, it MUST be king. MUST. My husband and I don''t even want to know the other is there...most of the time

Ame,

don''t forget to check the post dispatch. I lucked up and got a thomasville set with armoire for 1100.00 and the bed is the pier type with lots of storage and mirrors. Carol House had it for more than I could afford. I never mind buying out of the paper. Furniture is costly. I am glad your doing well. I hope Ryans job works out for him. Everyone is laying off.

He said something about knowing tomorrow what may or may not happen. If his boss is in tomorrow he knows his days are numbered or even over.

I just hope that nothing happens to his group and that maybe Verizon has a use for him and his group because they are picking up so many customers.

who knows....

when we have the money to spend Ill start furniture looking :)

Yes, Michelle, Issaquah does sound familar. would you describe that as a quaint, upscaleish area? I remember the buildings we passed were cottagey looking. Quaint is all I can think of.
