I am happy to offer for your consideration this antique marquise cut diamond. It has to offer all what Old European Cut diamonds have. Chunky facets that result in big flashes of fire, small table, and even culet! In a real life the bow tie at all (I think it is pretty minimal even on the pictures). This stone is as much beautiful as it is rare. I was lucky to own it for a while, but I’m trying to reduce my diamond collection, so I will be happy to pass it to another antique cut lover. It will make a wonderful pendant; it is also substantial enough to be set in a ring. It's In excellent condition - no nicks or chips. The stone is bright and sparkly and fiery.
It comes as 79ct on my diamond weight.

Measurements are: 8.3mm X 4.6mm

Size: 8.3mm x 4.6mm

Clarity: VS-SI-1 (I cannot see anything under 10m loop)
Color: G-I (looks as white as my GIA graded E, but i want to be on a conservative side)

That is so pretty! Wish I were in the market. I hope someone snaps it up.

Liz,
It is truly an amazing stone. My plans for it kept changing from pendant to RHR to wedding band with tension set marquise. But there was always something else that had to come first (like another OEC or OMC :twirl: )I had it in my jewerly box for almost two years before I decided to list it.

I have a friend who's interested in it for his gf e-ring but one be ready until march. Should I have him contact you anyways or wait? He's waiting on his tax return.

I love it :) it's beautiful!

Marquise isn't one of my favorite shapes, but that one is so chubby and cute! Alas, I have a .98 ct. OMC coming in within the next couple of days and I ran out of fingers a long time ago. I love to look at the honker old cuts that so many people here have, but I've decided that .75 ct. to 1 or maybe 1.25 ct. is the "sweet spot" for frequent wear and reasonable cost. That's large enough to see and enjoy the old cut but not so big that it's impractical to wear most of the time (in my world).

Libby,
I am the same. That is the only marquise I own. He is so chubby and has no pointy edges :).

I really don't have a finger to put it on, and to set it in the pendant would be wasting those chunky facets.

I had E/W tension setting in mind for it, so if won't sell that is what i'm going to do with id.

From my fairly extensive ebay old cut hunting experience (trying to get rid of that bad habit :twirl: , antique marquise and ovals are waaaaay more rare then OECs and OMCs.

Re: Antique Cut Marquise Diamond .79ct

I have a .79 ct. antique oval that I got from JbEG, set in one of their custom settings with a couple of little diamonds and a couple of little sapphires. I really love old-cut diamonds.

I'm sure "chubs" will find a loving home.

Just had to stop in to say I'm in love! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous stone! Not looking for this sort of project at the moment, but would take it in a heart beat if I was. In agreement that someone will find a happy space for him in their home/heart 8)
