Hi All-

I have a .70 ct. round diamond, would this be a good size to put in a single diamond necklace? Thanks for your opinions.

Yes, I am currently having one made with a 1CT diamond. In reality there is not too much difference in size. Or you could buy another 0.7CT and make some nice stud earrings for her.

Thanks! so you dont think a .70 would look too small?

Hello,

Yes, 0.70ct totally works. If you are concerned about the size, you can even go with a halo pendant to add a design element and stones around it. This will also make the center diamond look larger.

Thanks,
Anubh

Have a read at this. A lot depends on the person and what else she wears. Make sure her ring stone size is bigger than the pendant

I have a .70. I like that size on me. I knew I liked it because I got a couple of CZ pendants and wore them around first--for about a year or so, once I knew I wanted a pendant. I found I was wearing the .70--and not the 1.5 pendant. I found I didn''t wear the one that had a bezel, and that i was not crazy about round pendants. Mine is a heart shaped diamond--I also like pears. I find it''s not so useful to just hold a stone up against your neck, but that it''s good to actually wear the necklaces, because then you get an idea of what you actually will wear.

I knew I wanted a biggish pendant because I have bigger studs that I wear pretty much everyday and I didn''t wnat it to look out of proportion. But I found .70 looked big enough (the pendant I finally got is a heart and its about 6.3mm)--for me, the 1.5 was too big for daily wear.

I didn''t want to spend a bundle on my pendant and what I did was to buy a pawnshop ring with a stone I liked and have local jeweller reset it. My .70 pendant cost about as much as .25 would cost, if I got a very good quality diamond. In a pendant, you don''t have to have the very best quality as no one gets that close up--it just has to sparkle. Mine has white inclusions if you are eyeballing it close up, but it sparkles a lot and it looks very nice.

I got advice on PS as to how to have it set and also I looked at the threads where people showed their pendants and gave the sizes--it was very helpful.

Of course, some like super quality like ACA''s for everything; for people like that, what I did wouldn''t be a good idea

Not really sure what you are looking for here... I don't know that there is any bad size for a solitaire necklace. If you take a look at previous threads there is a wide range of sizes. Assuming you are talking about a round brilliant, I think .7ct should be a very nice size for a solitaire necklace. How small is too small (or how big is too big) depends on the taste of the wearer. These preferences, along with the shape, weight, color & depth of the stone may influence how you decide to set it (bezel? halo? basket? fixed? slide? yellow gold? white gold? rose gold? milgrain?). FWIW, my solitaire is an AGS000 .4 K SI1 in a fixed WG backless bezel (DBTY style). I think that on me it is a good size for everyday, but my sister would never choose something that delicate. I think I could carry off a larger stone, but it just wasn't in the budget at the time of my purchase, and I'm not sure I'd wear it as often. Also I might use a diff setting with a larger stone as the back of the stone is a bit pokey sometimes even at this smaller size. Hope these factors are at least food for thought. Maybe you can give us more info on your diamond and your thoughts for setting it and get more specific feedback.

I think 0.7 is a good, healthy size. I wear a 0.75 round everyday, I never take it off.

As others have pointed out, it depends on the person and it depends how the style you're going for. There's been plenty of 'small' diamond pendants on PS that look amazing! Recently, someone posted a baby bezel pendant and it was adorable. So, size isn't everything.

The size preference of a diamond solitaire necklace can be influenced by any number of variables (lifestyle, personal preference, budget, etc.). What might be considered too small (or too big) by one, may not be by another. Personally, I have a 1.50 carat solitaire necklace and it fits my lifestyle perfectly.

Mine is .80 in a yelow gold bezel....It is a fine size

Mine is a .75 & its a perfect size. My previous pendant was .40 & always seemed very small on my very broad shoulders. I love this one to bits & wear it every single day without fail. My studs are slightly smaller at .50 each, which gives a fab balance.

Sorry for the blurry quick snap!
