Solitaire vs chunky band

Would you rather upgrade to a larger solitaire (3 ct) or get a big 5 stone band. (.60 + each) ??

I picked solitaire, but only because I think a 5 stone band with .60 ct stones would be too large on my finger and the stones would go down the sides too far to be comfortable. So I guess my answer might depend on your finger size and also what size solitaire you have now.

I voted solitaire because I want a big rock! What size center stone do you have now? That might change my answer. I have a 5 stone band made with .34 diamonds and it’s a tad smaller than what I want. If I could go back I would get minimum .40-.60. I am a finger size 5

This! Depends on the size of your current stone.

I have a 2 ct I don’t love. Considering getting a substantial band to all together replace it to wear every day instead. My ring size a 6 so I think I could do a pretty big 5 stone and still be comfortable.
I also love the look of a big solitaire but see so many people recently with huge moissanites that I don’t want people to assume it’s fake. Is that stupid?

A super ideal cut diamond will blow away any moissanite rings. The difference in sparkle is night and day.

I have a 2.59ctw 5 stone, finger size 7 1/2. The stones go down the sides and I can definitely feel them. I rarely wear the ring these days as it's just too much. Like I'm very self conscious with it on.

I also recently upgraded to a 3.76ct solitaire. I much prefer wearing the solitaire which on my finger size, does NOT look huge.

If I only could have one, it would definitely be the solitaire.

Thank you for your real life feedback!

What didnt you like about your 2ct?

It’s a modern cushion cut. I upgraded from a 1.7 round brilliant and I wish I wouldn’t have chosen that cut. My husband has agreed to help me get something I like better, but can’t decide what I want.

It would depend on your lifestyle.

I used to have a 3 stone band which was roughly .40 each, and that was plenty finger coverage on my size 6.75. I can’t imagine wearing 5 x .60, I’m sure it’d be fabulous, I’m just not sure it would be practical for everyday wear (talking about me personally, not anyone else).

Even setting aside the practicalities, I’d still go for a big solitaire, because you can wear a complimentary band, which could also be worn on it‘s own.

I think the 5x .60 will be unwearable.

Solitaire, no question, and I would buy from Whiteflash or another PS vendor with a flexible upgrade policy if you think there's a chance you might upgrade again.

Get the solitaire then the band. You can have both.

As much as I prefer bands over solitaires, I think this is a great idea. I feel like finding a solitaire with the specs you want would be harder to find than 5 smaller stones?

I would go for the solitaire first, then you will see which band size goes with it. 0.60 stones seem quite large for a 3 ct solitaire. I wear a band with 0.61 stones and the proportions go pretty well with my solitaire, which is, however, a lot larger than 3 ct.

I voted solitaire. Of course it’s your preference that matters. You should go try on both options and see which you prefer on your hand and for your lifestyle.

I have a 2.5 ct 5 Stone on a 6.75 and it is perfect! Looks nice but not rubbing my fingers like my smaller 7 Stone does. I may be in the minority but I would not wear a large 5 Stone and solitaire together. I tried it with my FY halo ( 4.3 plus .9 halo ) and the 5 Stone took away from the solitaire.
