So that I can buy Gene's $10, 240 sapphire.

Which is ginourmous, and we all know how I like big rings. I think it's a beauty, a velvety blue.

I just need the $10K, I have the $240 on my own. Actually, not a loan, per se . . .

Or is one of you going to buy it? :naughty:

Its a beauty ilander. There sure are a lot of pretty sapphires from Sri Lanka on Master cut Gems and litnon, too.

I saw that one too as soon as the email went out, It is so gorgeous that for a moment I thought about changing my search from a pad color to that stunner
If you come across a "loan" like that or the money tree share your secrets

Love love love!!

I didn't even have to open the thread to know exactly what you were talking about.

Holy cow...we both need that guy on the motorcycle made out of money to drive by.

HI:

Gorgeous!

I'd like a sapphire brief myself--and a ruby--in fact, any gem briefs would do! ;))

cheers--Sharon

Thirded! It is an amazing sapphire.

I know that feeling. It's a beauty! BTW is it me or have blue sapphire prices gone up recently?

iLander, it is gorgeous!!!! I saw that one and then I saw the price and I was like ;( ;( ;(
Blue is my favorite color... :lickout:

But I wish I had an extra 10K times 2 cause then I would buy one for you and one for me. :appl:
(If Gene had the rough to cut another that is...and we had the extra $$$)

Oh, I hope a PSer gets it though and posts lots more pics!

Prices do seem to have gone up, but several vendors seem to have recently acquired some beauties! As wordie said, Dana and Michael have started posting some lovelies (The same stones on both sites), and Jason Brim's got a couple of nice ones closer to 1ct. Does anyone who went to Tucson know if they were plentiful this year? I wonder if the higher prices are luring nice stones out of safes.....

When I saw that after getting Gene's post, I considered raiding my 401K -- and I'm not even looking for a sapphire. Beauty. Hey Missy, as long as you're buying extras for friends, I'm just as nice as iLander, I promise! :cheeky:

thats such a beauty ilander.

How about we all chip in a few dollars then we rotate it around, so we all get it for a week?

Blue sapphire prices have been on a steady incline that seems more exponential rather than linear. They have more than doubled in price for both heated and untreated since less than 5 years ago, perhaps even as little as 3 years ago. Gene's new sapphire is certainly a beauty.

Dear Laurie, don't you know you're right at the top of my list PS twinsie. I would never leave you out- when I win that lottery we'll all be awash in delicious jewels, I can promise you that! :appl:

I don't usually care for blue sapphires much, but when I got that post from Gene- holy moly!!!!! It's so gorgeous!!!!!

Is it precision cut by him, or a recut?

I thought Gene dislikes recuts? Therefore I presume this must be from rough?

He got a handful of nice larger sapphires in Tucson a year or so ago.... I'd guess it's a recut from one of them.

He said it's Sri Lankan, and they do not allow rough out of their country. I doubt it's a new cut, and it doesn't appear to be a recut. ????? He doesn't say on his site either, at least that I could find.

It's a very pretty stone, just want to make sure that people know that they might not be getting one of his precision cuts, that's all.

Good catch on the origin and that the local law dictates that only cut gems may leave the country.

I would guess he touched-up the pavillion but left the steps--that culet is centered well-enough to work as a sun-dial.
