Sometimes... when I am reading this forum I think

of the old story

Once there was a wise old woman resting on the road leading into a great town. A traveling man came by and looked at the old woman and said,
"Old woman, what kind of people are in this town?"
The wise old woman answered, "What kind of people were in the town you came from?"
The man answered, "Well, they were kind and loving, always willing to help others and very good people to be around."
The old woman said,"These are the kind of people you will find in this town."
So the man went toward town.
A little while later another traveling man stopped to rest near the woman and said,
"Old woman, what kind of people are in this town?"
The wise old woman answered with her question," What kind of people were in the town you came?"
The man answered, "Well, they were liars and cheaters, they were in it all for themselves and were basically a terrible lot of people."
The old woman said, "Yes, these are the kinds of people that you will find in this town."
So the man left and grumbled his way toward town.

Yes.. this is the story I think of sometimes when I read this forum.....

No NO No... Sometimes when I read these forums In the WORLD section.. I read a lot from different people that find the ''negative'' in all of the world''s ads and negative in all the things that are addressed. The story is an illustration how we can find the ''negative'' when we see ''negative'' and positive when we see positive.

People here are ALWAYS positive and helpful... But I just point out that sometimes we need tosearch for the positive in order to see it.

Hi, Mine!....great story. And I think quite wise..

But is it the sometimes rather "heated" discussions that go in this forum regarding world affairs that inspired you to tell it?

If so, I think it''s a bit off track. A lot of what has gone on here has been to try to sort out what''s true and what isn''t....reality vs. spin...

In my opinion, seeking out the truth is a far different from "looking on the bright side", or "thinking positive".

"Wearing rose colored glasses" when entering a new town might be the wisest thing in the world to do. Wearing them before invading a foreign country might be an intirely different story.

Of course, if you told this tale just to suggest what is the best way to enter a new town, then disregard this post!

oh, Mine, i have a pair of orange colored glasses also! the world is wonderous dressed in orange!

seriously, though, what you call negative i call having a different point of view....and without those different points of view it is impossible to see the town and/or the world as it really is. i don''t think it is negative to examine and question.......i do think it is negative to not examine and question.

if you figure out out to ''link'', please post the directions ''cause i too don''t know how....

oh, my, i was/am addicted to colas! i can''t begin to tell you the stories....! i gave them up cold turkey in december 2000....and i still crave them! sometimes i''m at a movie and i can smell the cola and when that happens, its like i can feel those carbonation bubbles going up my nose, the burn down the throat and.....yes, i sound like an addict..... i used to keep a case at work to make sure i wouldn''t run out!
