So we asked my nephew the other day to be our ring bearer who happens to be the cutest thing since sliced bread. We''re taking him to the amusement park on sunday to celebrate his 4th birthday :) So my sister was showing him the video of her wedding and explaining to him what his job was. Well the first thing he asked was "do i get to wear a tuxedo toooo!!!!!!" Very cute. Of course we said yes lol. Then his second question was "I get to keep the rings mommy?" We can''t quite seem to get it through his head that he does not actually get to keep the rings lol. I know we can use fake rings attached to the pillow but I think he seems to be very adament about using the real ones... Anyways, my question was, does anyone know a good way to explain to him why he could not keep the real rings or do you think we should just go ahead and use the fake ones and maybe tell him those are the real ones? He is known to have temper tantrums so in my mind I''m seeing him having the fake ones on the pillow but then when we start doing the ring exchange, him seeing that and freaking out. Not that his tantrums bother me, no I''ve seen plenty of those, but I don''t want our cute little guy being upset on such a happy day!

I think you could easily put pretend rings on the pillow, then "take" them during the ceremony, slip on your own rings...and put "his" back on the pillow...without him noticing. (Do it above eye level with your backs turned...never show him the real rings...)

Why not say "We''re all going to be able to keep a ring!". You can add a tiny sterling ring to the pillow and when it comes time to exchange your wedding bands, you can slip his on his little finger. This way, he feels like a very important part of the ceremony and he gets to have his own ring. It''s kind of a sweet and cute gesture and a "thank you" for being such a great ring bearer!

Just a thought....

At first I was going to suggest the same thing as mayachel, but breebrisk has a brilliant idea! Good thinking!

Thank you for all the wonderful suggestions ladies! I too like the thought of giving one of the rings to him, maybe we can find a small spiderman decal to put on top of the fake ring, he loooooooves spiderman and i think that would make it even more exciting for him lol :)
