Hi all

I am thinking of getting a new set made. It will be a plain solitaire with a plain band. Was wondering if a spacer is sometimes needed for these?

Please share pictures if you have a plain set with a spacer.

Thanks in advance

A spacer is usually needed when there are diamonds with exposed girdles on the wedding band touching the prongs on the e-ring. For a plain solitaire with a plain band, you wouldn't need a spacer.

Thanks Kim. I was wondering in case the plain band is rubbing under one of the prongs.

Any one else? :)

Nope, no spacer required. You only need a spacer if there are diamonds with exposed girdles on a band because it can scratch the metal of the other band (or the diamonds on the other band)

How much is a spacer and what material do you usually use?

Most people seem to get theirs from Etsy so check there for prices. Get whatever metal your ering set is in.

You won’t “need” a spacer, but you might like the look of one. Many of us have spacers or other types of “stacking“ bands that we can swap out with our rings because most of us have accumulation problems ;0
