Can anyone recommend a good spa+hotel in Palm Springs? It''s for a girls'' weekend. Thanks!

The Parker hands down!! We stayed there last year and they just redid the entire spa and I''m sure it''s fabulous. We are already booking our trip this year....alot of celebrities supposedly go there, but it was very private and we felt pampered and taken care of, the staff is wonderful and the grounds are breathtaking. Highly recommended. I actually posted a bunch of pictures in my ''Whos Who'' thread from our trip.

We went to the Viceroy for dinner and compared to the Parker it''s definitely not in the same league in terms of the look/feel/ambiance and all that, the Viceroy is a tiny bit more boutiquey and older, I have heard it''s very nice as well but having stayed at the Parker and then seeing the Viceroy...we were glad we didn''t stay at the Viceroy (we were about to til we found the Parker). But dinner at the Viceroy was divine as well.

Have fun!!

SD for us it''s not Palm Springs that is wonderful, it''s the place we stay at and what we do there. aka a big fat load of NOTHING. Palm Springs in itself is pretty slow, small, not necessarily beautiful unless you love the desert. But I love the mountains against the skyline and if you stay on a great property, they typically do a fabulous job of hiding that you are in the barren desert...hehee. So it''s like a lush little paradise oasis. Oh and the weather is so awesome and we are pool lovers, so basically all we did was get up, go eat breakfast, then walk to the pool for the afternoon, order up drink after drink and eat lunch, then go back, take a nap and go out for dinner. Repeat next day!

Sometimes we''ll venture out into town, where you can walk the downtown strip with some cute boutiques and shops and restaurants, but last time we were so caught up in how much we loved the Parker that we only left the place once for dinner at the Viceroy. We were only there three days also. Just enough time to relax and unwind...then we come home!

Another Palm Springs question: I will be visiting my MIL in Rancho Mirage in March and am hoping to escape the kids and have at least one quiet dinner with my husband in Palm Springs. Do you recommend the restaurant at the Parker or the Viceory or somewhere else. My only issue with the Parker is that we may never want to leave...

For me, the draw is some guaranteed sunshine, pre-wedding. I''m the palest I''ve been in the whole 8 years since I moved to So Cal!

It''s not Palm Springs...but Glen Ivy in Corona is an awesome day for the girls if you are willing to consider another SoCal location. The weather is similar in that every time I''ve been it''s always hot!
I went for a friend''s bridal shower and we had a great time.

ooohhh- Glen Ivy is so fun! I''ve been for showers, bachelorette parties, bday parties, etc...

however, it''s quite a trek to Palm Springs!

hey charger and gglw: I love Glen Ivy! If we were going for just the day, then I''d choose that. But I kind of want to do something overnight, so Palm Springs seemed more *lively*. Now that my girlfriend sent out the evite, it''s too late to change locale.

For the day before the wedding, when all our OOT guests are there, I think we will go to the Glen Ivy Dayspa in Hermosa Beach. For that day, I really want to go someplace VERY local (ie. no more than a 15-minute drive, seriously I do not want to be stuck on the 405 that day!!!!!) and luckily we have so many to choose from in the beach cities now. Any opinions on Trilogy vs. Tropical waters vs. Glen Ivy vs. Burke Williams (in Rolling Hills Plaza, not Santa Monica)? I actually have $$ on a gift certificate from 2003 for one of the above-mentioned, from my ex-boyfriend--how horrible would it be to use it for the day before my wedding to a different guy!?!!? (If they''d even still honor it...)

selflove- Isn''t Glen Ivy really new? I haven''t been to it yet. I did hint to my FI that it would be a FAB Valentine''s Day present. They had a chocolate body treatment- yum!

I haven''t been to trilogy or tropical waters, but a friend of mine goes regularly to trilogy and raves about it. I have been to the Torrance Burke Williams, and it''s OK. I''m not a huge fan of "chain spas", but would prefer Glen Ivy over Burke. My neighbor and her girlfriends got kicked out of Burke for being "too loud". Huh???

As far as your GC goes- the spa should honor it, no matter how old it is. I believe there''s a state law that prohibits expiration dates on GC''s.
