So, I was reading the thread about short ceremonies and being meaningful and it got me thinking...

It isn''t that I want to get the vow part over and done with, I just can''t think of anything enjoyable to add.

I am a very blunt plain spoke kind of person I guess.

Neither my FI and I or our families are religious so there will be not be any denominational readings/traditions.

I don''t care for poetry so no poems.

We are going to be outside with most likely a DJ for the music so someone singing wouldn''t really be appropriate and I think a recorded song would be weird. Additionally, what would it be?

The only thing, to us, that seems important are the vows. Do we really need more then that?

This in no way is aknock on people who have things like the above going on. I think everyone should chose thing that are important/meaningful and if you enjoy the above then great.

We just want to celebrate our love and committment to on another with our friends and family, do you think people will find this odd?

If I knew you I wouldn''t think it was odd, if I were your Aunt Matilda''s best friend who had been invited I might be a bit suprised, but never bothered by it.

there might be some people that will be all "huh?" about having a ceremony consisting only of the vows, but, in all honesty, so what?

if that''s what you want to do, don''t feel pressured to do something more just because you feel like others might find it odd.

if you did want to have a little something extra, you could always ask your dads and/or moms to prepare a little tribute to the two and have them read it, or maybe have a passage from a book read (there are a million out there. but if you feel like it''s more "you" to just have the vows, then just keep it to that for sure
