In another thread, Zombie suggested a spess necklace with the full range of colors for that stone from the darker richer colors to the bright Fanta orange stones. So I throw it out to all the Pricescope gurus.

Lets see some ideas for setting 4 to 5 graduated (or not) stones in a pendant. Let your minds fly free!

As I mentioned in the other thread, I have a really nice parcel of spess that cover the full range of colors and Zombies suggestion really got my mind going. If we can come up with something really cool, I will cut the stones and make the piece. (If it doesn''t exceed my limited jewelry-making capabilities).

Then, I can post the pictures and we can all rejoice in a project well done!

Oh this sounds like fun! What are the sizes of the stones? And are you wanting a necklace or pendant?

The largest pieces I have will cut around 8mm. So, smaller stones..I can cut rounds, ovals, trillions, emeralds, asschers, whatever.

Necklace, pendant, enhancer...anything goes!

Jeff,
That''s a Fanta-stic Spess-tacular idea. Is yield maximisation a consideration? If not, what cut do you think is the most brilliant? I''d like to see a series of rounds floating on a chain.

This is exactly what I was thinking. YG - high carat. Maybe bezeled, maybe not, though. I''m not sure how much metal you want. I''m just in a bezely mood right now. Sort of DBTY style kicked up!

Phear my leet clip art skillz! And to fill the details I couldn''t manage to draw, yellow gold, prong set and a double chain (so the stones are attached at 2 corners rather than just 1).

Harriet,

After all the cutting I have done, I have found that rounds tend to be the brightest and most consistent sparkle. I am not too concerned with yield since I can have enough material to pick and choose for yield and color as well.

My initial though was to have rounds going from fanta to mandarin (light to dark) and then a really nice, larger fanta center stone. Something really stylish. Flowy. Unique.

Also, the credit for the idea goes to Zombie.

I just happen to have the material to make it a (possible) reality.

Great! I thought you might not want to cut rounds because of yield. How about dark to bright to dark?

What other rough do you have hidden?

Here''s my attempt:

Oh, I have all sorts of little goodies. I have a piece of pezzottaite that should yield about a 4 carat stone. I have also acquired a few small pieces of bixbite. In fact, I just got another one yesterday for a killer price. I am hoping to yield a good clean 30 to 40 points from it.

Plus I have a parcel of small color-change garnet, tons or really nice sphene, about 2 kilos of mexican sunstone and a newly acquired 1+ kilo parcel of small oregon sunstone.

I have some Pak emeralds, lots of various tourmaline (including a Pala pink), some demantoids, Antero aqua (self-collected), a little true Paraiba (the real thing, tiny pieces), spinel, sapphire, chrome diopside...

I have a little of everything. I try to acquire rare pieces when I can and I buy parcels when it makes sense. I just bought a 350 gram parcel of Utah topaz for an amazing price that is a mix of champagne and white. I even managed to get ahold of a small piece of jeremejevite and 4 tiny crystals of painite!

Now ya got me goin...I could talk about rough all day. It is one of my true passions.

Wow!!!!!

I don''t really know what else to say. That would be a STUNNING piece.

GREAT job!

Thanks.

I was thinking a high karat gold with a matt finish would be nice.

Twisted wires stems could also look good, but I was too lazy to draw it all out and see!

Pandora,
That''s lovely.

Jeff,
You can talk gems with me (I''m not up to the rough level yet) all day long.

Awesome idea Pandora! You are just so creative

I think you should incorporate a few more marquise into the design though to really make Jeff earn it

been gone all day.....and come back to find orange ideas flying! i love pandora''s idea and drawing. i''m not artistic so i won''t even compete.

my idea was very simple: i see the stones in whatever shape......even some as cabochons.....set bezeled on/within a gold chain of small links but not too small and progressing in color at least twice on the chain, depending on how many stones you have and how big they are, perhaps a stone very inch or so...or more if necessary. i also see them set so that the chain can be worn 24/7 and as it rolls, the stones are still visible in the same way from either side....make any sense?

OMG! Pandora, I gotta tell you. WOW. Um... I''m not a pendant person. But I''d love that made into a pair of earrings-- mirror images of each other! Maybe with another dark round at the post. *SWOON*

Just for you Gypsy...

Good groaning god, Pandora. I would
queue up to buy earrings like that,
