Split Bridge Solitaire Ring design? Not split shank, kinda like tri wire look

Hi all,

I'm considering a new custom solitaire e ring and trying like mad to find an actual example of what's in my head. So I can see if what's in my head would actually look totally wrong.

Are there any solitaire designs that you can think of for a round stone where the shank splits underneath at the bridge / under gallery(?), and preferably with cathedral sides? Very much like a tri wire look, but not tri wire. I know I've seen the split bridge before, perhaps it was on a 3-stone. I just remember liking that little detail, even though it wasn't super noticeable.

I made an absolutely hideous sketch with proportions completely skewed but hopefully you can see what I'm trying to say. And I hope my terminology is close - please let me know if there is other wording I should be using in my search?

Thanks!

Did you pursue this? I am curious! I am looking at really similar designs and stumbled across your thread.

@Cerulean @ac117 thank you both! These both look close to what I was thinking of at the time, but I gave up and went a different route.. and then didn’t love how it turned out and sold it immediately :roll2:

Sorry I totally didn’t realize how old this thread was

After changing my mind for months, I ended up taking elements from a couple of different antique bezel rings I’d seen. The setting came out just fine, quite lovely actually - but the stone I was reusing from a contemporary bezel solitaire setting ended up looking significantly smaller in the new ring, and the stone didn’t look as good as it did in the other setting either, almost like it was a different cut. The ring was also a bit uncomfortable between my fingers. I couldn’t get past it all and regretted taking the stone from the previous ring, and had to sell this one for a loss. So I’m not messing with custom again unless I know exactly what I want

Thanks for sharing. Custom is so tricky and I’ve made mistakes too. I appreciate you sharing your experience. It’s hard to anticipate how certain stones will “react” to different styles, especially bezels!

I hope your next custom project is a success!

Thank you =)2 Yes, it was very unexpected how the stone reacted, it wasn’t something I had considered since I was going from one bezel to another. There was more light hitting it in the original setting as it was completely exposed underneath, and it sat almost 1mm higher before... apparently those things make a difference. The new owner wrote me a while after purchasing to say how much she loved the stone, so I’m glad she’s happy with it!
