No one buys anything in Pueblo anyway and according to the article, a lot of other businesses got much more money than they would have if he had not come. The only other place he could have done it was the fairgrounds and they are so bad that they are a big part of Pueblo''s nickname, the ahole of Colorado.
McCain was at the local university when he stopped in town, but it was much to small for the crowds that come to see Obama

So its a good thing to hurt some businesses if it helps others?
Are the other businesses going to pay the mortgage at the end of the month for those that the SS shut down?

I'm surprised this even made news.

Here in NM one of our main streets was completely shut down around the university, which includes several businesses. However, its also the same street that usually gets shut down for movies. Being that there was tons of foot traffic before and after the rally here in ABQ, I doubt the businesses minded all that much.

I have to say strm, that I highly doubt that any of these businesses are going to close permanently because they were closed for 7 hours on one day. Also antique stores are hurting in this economy anyway, so doubt they could blame Obama's campaign for closing their doors if it happened (my aunt and uncle own one).

Frankly if I were a small business owner in that situation, I'd be thrilled to help do something for my country--security measures for the man who may be the next president of the USA is a big deal, and worth a few hundred dollars. But that's in my book.

I don''t own a small business, but have worked for several people who own small stores. If they missed EVEN ONE DAY of being open, that affects their bottom line for the whole month. The decision to close any small business that is unplanned for a day is awful for the employer. Especially in these times.
