St. Lucia honeymoon pix!!

Since St. Lucia seems to be a popular honeymoon destination these days, I thought I''d share some pix from ours!!

We flew out early Wed. morning after our wedding (it was SOOOO nice having those extra few days to relax and pack, by the way... I''d highly recommend it!), and returned on Sunday... so we were there about 11 days I guess? From start to finish, everything was wonderful... peaceful and relaxing and romantic... there is such a great atmosphere down there, and the people are genuinely nice.

Our first stop was Anse Chastanet (in the South of the island, by the stunning Piton mountains)... where we were promptly upgraded to their unbelievable new Jade Mountain resort (rooms are typically $1100+ a night!)... I cannot even put into words how unreal this place was. Totally open-air, we had our own full-size infinity pool, all the furniture and decor was just rich and beautiful... and our entire room directly faced the Pitons where they rise out of the ocean.

So this was the private walkway leading to our room:

So we walked in and rounded the corner, and this was what we saw...

To the right of the infinity pool was our own little deck with ultra-comfy lounge chairs... and an ultra-amazing view:

Which became even more amazing the following day...

... before beginning a long, hard day under the cous-cous hut I promptly fell in love with...

Oh, Ephemery!! WOW. So far it looks amazing!!!!

Part of the reason I was in love with it.... drinks delivered to us whenever we put out our little yellow flag... and of course DH in the background! (We were also brought mint-scented cool towels and cucumbers for our eyes sporadically throughout the day!)

Obviously had to do a ring shot (with my new wedding band!) in the glittery black sand! There are more to come, but unfortunately I have to run out for a bit... so bear with me and I''ll add the rest tonight!

What a gorgeous spot for a honeymoon! I want to go there now! Can you tell us more about St. Lucia as a honeymoon destination? My FI keeps bringing up new suggestions even though I thought we had already decided what we were going to do. St. Lucia is one of the new suggestions. He really wants to combine culture, nature, and history, with plenty of things to do besides lounging by the pool or the beach. Would you say St. Lucia could fit that description?

i''m not ephemery, and i really don''t mean to hijack, but a few others had similar questions in my thread, which may be helpful. i''m sure eph will come back and answer your questions from her experience too.

WOW! I am completely re-thinking my honeymoon plans...

Okay, not really, but still...WOW. That place looks amazing. How awesome that you got upgraded!

And not to hijack, but Zoe, we are planning on going to Nevis, and it seems to have all/most of those things you are looking for...plus, it is not as "touristy" as some islands and is super clean, safe, etc. I can tell you more after July 14th!

Though I definitely think we will need to try St.Lucia at some point, too!

OK so this living-between-2-apartments thing is really making things difficult for my Pricescope picture posting!

But I''m putting the rest up now...

It really was paradise... Zoe, we weren''t totally sure about St. Lucia back when we were making the plans (we''re St. John people, but wanted to try something different)... but our resort ended up being a perfect combination of gorgeous beach for me, and amazing scuba/snorkel for DH. He actually just got his official scuba certification card in the mail yesterday! There were a fair amount of excursions (volcano tour, botanical gardens, mineral baths, horseback-riding, whale-watching, sunset cruise)... but we didn''t do many, cause we''d been there for 1 day on a cruise and done the main stuff... plus we just wanted to relax! Our resort also had windsurfing and kayaking available in addition to the dive center. There isn''t much of a town for shopping or anything (at least not in Soufriere down where we were) but I believe the new Marigot Bay area is more tailored toward tourists wanting that kind of stuff. The history/culture of the island is really interesting, and all the taxi drivers/staff/etc were REALLY knowledgeable about it and happy to tell you!

JCrow, thanks for sharing your St. Lucia expertise! I have a story you will DEFINITELY appreciate... let me just get through a couple more pix first!

Fata, I''ve heard great things about Nevis... I love that it''s not super-trendy yet... can''t wait to hear about your trip!!

Oh and Bee, I had a thread with a few close-up e-ring/wedding band pix a few months ago: here ... but I think it may be time for another (official) shoot!
