Starting the progress on MY e-ring!

Alright my fellow LIW's and BIW's who still like to hang here,

As you know I proposed to my BF on September 21st (and he said yes!)

He also got me a lovely little surprise ring to "hold me over" until I got my e-ring.

However, while my blue sparkly is very sweet, I have come to find that the last few weeks, I am not a fan of the halo.... or halos in general, especially with an eventual eternity band going underneath....(I am sadly one of those matchy, flush fit type of gals.)

I am keeping this lovely blue sparkly as a RHR and we are in the process of starting to work with Whiteflash (and the lovely Lesley) on getting my existing colorless diamond re-cut and put in to a beautiful new solitaire setting to put with a beautiful sapphire and diamond eternity band down the road when we get married!

After a lot of thought and the way the economy is going, there's no sense in wasting a good diamond and having it just sitting in a jewelry box for eternity....lol....

I will be posting in the SMTR/Rocky Talky with progress as I go through the WF journey!

Don;t worry, you're not being nosey...lol...

I started a thread a few days back in Rocky Talky My Old Ring Pics before wondering what I was going to do with it.....(originally I had decided on using the diamond for a pendant....but........)After talking to FI, we are having a bit of a money crunch right now ( I am in the process of a job hunt/changeand he's footing all the bills that he can plus going to school to finish his BS) and I know that I would not nearly get in return what was paid for it by selling the old diamond. So, we are going to use the past to shape the future....

Afterall, if i wasn't in such an un happy marriage, I would never have taken an internship in Florida and I never would have met my current FI. (The Rascal Flatts song Bless the Broken Road comes to mind...lol)

So, to "rid" of the bad juju of the old ring I am getting the diamond re-cut and set in to something brand new!!!! YIPPEEEEEE!

I definitely will be starting a thread of progress starting from the day I send it out to WF til the day I get it back (and hand shots!)

I am sure many people are skeptical of this idea....

However, I will only be re-using the diamond portion and basically scrapping the old setting (i'm just keeping the goods...hehehe) Anyway, it appears that I never get to do anything traditional in life anyways, so heck, why not? Money's tight in my neck of the woods, plus, I am always up for an upgrade later

It's almost like restoring an old hot rod...hehehe....

that special "brown paper tape" sucks....Its super sticky and I had to put water on it to stick it to the box....fun times!

I don''t think there is anything wrong using the diamond from your previous e-ring, if it is okay with you and your FI then I say go for it!

I hope it turns out exactly how you want!

Mini-update....

Just got a confirmation email from WF that my old ring got there safe and sound via Registered Mail (USPS) It took 7 business days from Orlando to Houston.....

Phew...

Let the makeover begin!!!!!
