Booked our hall and our DJ in the last two weeks! Just in time for me to go back to school.

I wanted to share some photos and get some PS perspective on dessert and centerpiece design.

This is the ballroom we booked for our reception. This room is part of the same 1920s Masons building where our very own Mimzy had her reception in December. I love the jazz dinner theater feel. The room has so much presence and impact when walking in, the photos don''t do it justice. We''ll be having a buffet and a champagne toast for everyone.

Mom is making my 1930s inspired dress! We received the pattern and she''ll be creating a muslin mockup over the winter.

In my previous engagement I booked a stellar DJ whom I was really looking forward to having at my reception. When that event was canceled, she promised me she would hold my deposit until Mr. Right came along. I contacted her recently and asked if she would still honor this promise made two years ago, and she did! I am soooo happy to have Mary Ann provide my entertainment, she is a class act. http://www.maprodj.com

Going for a vintage glam feel for the wedding, with feathers and pearls and rhinestones and metallics. We are going to use a palette of metallic silver, eggplant/aubergine, and white for the wedding since our date is in November. I didn''t want a harvest theme and IMO the date (Nov 6) is not close enough for Christmas colors and decor. Picture this color mockup with just the colors I described, sorry haven''t had time to edit it yet.

Wow, I really love your ballroom and that dress will look fantastic, I''m a huge fan of sleek dresses.

Oops that was huge.

Now for a few questions. Given the amount of guest tables for decorating, it seemed more cost effective to do silk flowers for a November wedding in Michigan. My talented grandmother has happily accepted the task of assembling some vintage glam CPs in my colors. We purchased supplies last night after she showed me this sample she made with feathers and flowers she had lying around.

We bought deep purple-red silk roses and white carnations for the CPs, so sub in those colors when you look at this pic. Also, we picked up slightly larger pearls for the pearl picks. My question is, what would you do underneath this? We tried a mirror, but it wasn''t all that pretty and didn''t add anything to the display. There will be two votives on the tables and the table cloth will be white.

For the bridal table, we are going to make two of those eiffel tower feather CPs with some sparkly draped accents and a few pops of the eggplant color.

Last question: If you were a guest at a wedding serving pie instead of cake, would you want to eat a slice of fruit pie or a slice of cream pie?

FI LOVES pie and we want to get a fantastic local bakery to make wedding pies for us to serve. Achatz was featured as the "best slice" winner in a nationwide Good Morning America contest last year. They have excellent pies and they support the local economy by using as much Michigan-grown produce/sugar/milk/flour as possible.

Thank you, PL. I am going to find some Art Deco dress clips to attach to the places where the neckline meets the shoulder strap area. Depending on how the dress takes shape, I am considering a feather cape or bolero to wear with it.

Cream pie!

Everything looks great, Equestrienne!

Everything looks wonderful! It is so helpful to have a vision when designing a wedding and your venue, dress and colors all fit that art deco look nicely!

When I saw your centerpiece the part I liked best was the feathers and thought why not add more around the base in a wreath like structure?

Maybe this would be too feathery for your taste, but I think the white on white (feathers on table cloth) would make a great textural impact, especially if you used a shiny/satin-y cloth.

Something like this?

Thanks, LP. One vote for cream pie!

Kiwi, thanks for the feather wreath idea. I think as long as it is not too big and not a fire hazard with the votives, that might work.

Ooh, do you read vintageglamblog.com? I LOVE your reception venue and dress+bolero+art deco clips.

For the CPs, could she drape/wrap pearls around it?

For the pies, do you have to stick to one type or could you do like a pie buffet? (I love vintage cake pedestals, sorry). I prefer fruit pies myself.

Here's an example of a DIY centerpiece with draped beads, votives, and mirror. From http://vintageglamwedding.blogspot.com

Or you could hang or sprinkle individual chandelier crystals.

I love everything you''ve posted! For the centerpieces, what about a fabric puddle, like this?

Oh, and cream pie. Definitely.

I love vintageglamblog, they have great ideas there. I like the cake plate display idea, we were talking about something like that. Thanks for the pictures, Honey and Sunny.

Everything looks great so far! I looove Achatz pies!

My fav is their pumpkin crumb pie, but between cream and fruit pie I would choose cream pie. I also like the idea of a pie buffet with maybe 3 or 4 different kinds. Now I want a pie!

I vote for a combo of fruit and cream too! But if I had to pick, it would be cream!
