Yes, New Jersey is number 4! Who wouldda thunk it? It''s probably because many working class parents fork over the extra bucks to send their kids to Catholic schools, instead of sending them to some of the crime ridden public schools.Date: 10/26/2004 7:13:28 PM

What a shock that New Jersey would lead NY on this....very odd indeed....
Hmmm, perhaps all that smog and pollution IS useful!!!
Hey! I went to junior & senior high in Lincoln, and now I''m in graduate school working on my PhD in biology! There really is quality education here in the prairie (#13!), but a lower cost of living, hence the "only" 3K /student/year. You poor New Yorker''s would KILL to get apartments as nice and as cheap as they are in Lincoln! (try $400 a month for a 2-br 1-ba)Date: 10/28/2004 4:16:52 PM

However, I''m sure all of us would prefer to attend a school in Lincoln, Nebraska which may only spend 3K per student per year.
I read a great letter to the editor Melbourne Age today from an Aussie living in USA.Date: 11/3/2004 7:32:31 PM
