Hello All,

Been looking at diamonds for a pair of diamond stud earrings, and narrowed down to a few options. Was hoping for some opinions on which of these I should go with, or whether none of these are any good at all

Pair #1:

Pair #2:

Trying to keep within a reasonable budget, and not wanting to go "all out"

Any advice would be appreciated!

Both pairs have one diamond that doesn't have a photo. You should not buy a diamond, especially SI2, without seeing a magnified picture or video. The diamonds were deep at 62.5%, and that makes them face up smaller than they would if the depth was less. I'd honestly consider going to H color and SI1 clarity.

You are not really within a good cut range, although you were matching diameter. Start with GIA Excellent cut, polish, and symmetry. Then look for diamonds within these ranges:

Ideal cut range:

Table: 55-58
Depth: 60-62.3
crown angle: 34-35
pavilion angle: 40.6-40.9

These will work well for studs, also:

Table: 55-60
depth: Less than 62.3
Crown angle: 33-34.0
Pavilion angle: 41.0

I appreciate the feedback. I was iffy regarding the fact that the stone didn't have an actual photo/video as well.

It seems like Blue Nile doesn't have actual photo/videos of quite a bit of their "smaller" diamonds.

Will keep searching using the proportions that you've mentioned as targets.

Seems like one of the pairs I was looking at got sold anyways.

Honestly your better off going to I.D.Jewelry and buyiing their preset studs I bought both of my daughters from their picked them up in person and couldn't be happier https://idjewelry.com/

@heididdl , I think he is in Canada as his links were for BN Canada.

Yea, I'm from Canada, which limits my options unfortunately.

Oh yes he can buy on line.

It's not as straight forward for all retailers buying online.

There's the consideration when retailers only charge in USD, which results in increase of 2.5% due to FX transaction fees.
Also, shipping to Canada results in quite a steep shipping charge when including insurance.

True that I didn't take that in affect

OP, you are looking at G color stones. I would think in stones this size you could go lower. I'd be looking for H/I stones if you are setting in white metal, but would even look at J/K stones if using yellow or rose metal. If you can find really well cut stones, they should look fine in this size. It might give you more options.

Also, isn't USA Certed located in Canada? That would be another place to look. I have no experience with them but I'm fairly certain others have had good experiences.
