There may be a handful of people disappointed by this news - and even I myself feel a little like the end of an era - but I’ve made the decision to reset my engagement solitaire into a set of studs.
I don’t really wear her - and when I do I feel it looks quite small on my finger. I have no less than 10 other rings i rotate in as an “engagement ring “ let alone the stacks I often sport instead of an e-ring set. It’s just not reasonable to leave it as is.
Now grace is a remarkable stone. The faceting is (if I don’t sound like I’m bragging) hard to duplicate and you know I’m not going to pay someone to source it. (If you know me at all)
So I figured I would just snap one up if it ever came across my path and well don’t you know it one did. 86CA14F3-09EC-4AE0-B1D8-FE53A86F4B8F.jpeg136D416E-F661-401C-9515-4F7918BB23DD.jpeg
Color, size, faceting all a fantastic match. She is a skoch larger but negligible and will not be a problem on the ear.

I have tried my hand at studs a few times. First at 5.9mm and while I was excited to have studs- they felt small. And looking to small somehow looked worse than none at all- so I sold them to find one of my rings (guys let me tell you I have a lot). Next was 6.5 lab studs and while the size was better, the lab aspect was not mind clean for me- and I mean they still weren’t my Goldilocks size.
These will be 7.4/7.6 mm
I tried on 3cts (who knows the size exactly) at a B&M and I finally felt they had the just right size.
Here are the examples below.

I was also really surprised by how much the martini studs appealed to me. I love a good prong (or 20) but the 3 prong just felt like I had diamonds floating on my face. Yes I think they’re a bit utilitarian and an antique 8 prong would be more attractive when I am not wearing them but I am not look at them in my hand- and I really had to get that through my head. I’m one to love a good custom setting but at the end of the day that desire to custom make something doesn’t make sense.
I’ve asked for jumbo backs that will be probably my day to day (I work from home) but I’ll probably get some locking backs too so I’m not so anxiety ridden when I leave home.

Now if any of you would like to see the many other rings combinations I wear as a wedding set I suppose you could twist my arm ;-)

Clearly a well thought out plan! The earrings will be gorgeous. And yes, we would love to see all of the rings!

What a beautiful match! Can't wait to see the final set! Would also love to see your other ring combos!

The studs will be super fab! Looking forward to your SMTB when you receive them!

Meanwhile, I'm twisting, I'm twisting -- come on -- share ALL the wedding ring combos -- no holding back now -- I love your one-of-a-kind exceptional treasures!

Twist and shout! I wear multiple engagement rings too, and would love to see how you style yours.

The 3 carat is a perfect size on your ear lobe.

Beautiful! And yes please show us your ring combos and also your original e-ring bc idk if I’ve actually see it!

I also love that bamboo hoop you’ve got in the second piercing.

This was not my original “engagement “ ring but rather the must descent iteration of what I had worn as an e ring though A475F06B-71B1-4DEC-A58B-8F7A71D19DE1.jpeg

What a pretty pretty stone! Please do show us your various other ER options and ring stacks!

Here are my stacking rings I usually rotate. I also have a ruby one but I find I don’t throw that into the mix all that often. 71D6CE68-E70B-418D-B0ED-26591DA3E935.jpegE107F450-A890-4623-8E16-D63538E23DA0.jpeg7BCCBBDC-30A0-491E-BD93-D67C78139AF2.jpeg

I mix and match the bands but these are the most common combos. I have other rings I’d like to wear as e rings but they’re either the wrong size for my finger or too large to wear a band with so really just makes sense to wear them on my right hand 03768E7E-2F94-4D2A-8C82-3D519C251974.jpeg

Hubba hubba! What a great way to enjoy your fantastic collection. Love the CSs.

Beautiful rings and yes a little sad about the ering because it’s so well done! Love that setting you found for it! BUT I believe you will be better served with the killer earrings since you do have so many gorgeous ring options.

Exactly it’s too bad her perfect fit of a setting won’t be utilized- but I can’t let it sit in a box just because the setting was a good fit, you know?

I totally agree!!! It’s a waste and I hate waste too!! Could you perhaps find some smashing colored stone for that setting?

Yeah. Me neither. I get it. Shame. Would a nice blue star sapphire fit? Asking for a friend

What about the zirc and the the sapphire navette (two of my faves)?

On topic, the studs are going to be the perfect size!

Those are too big to wear with a band. They get a lot of play tho!

my new marquise two stone is one of my favorites as well but she’s too long for a band, too

Count me as another one who is a little sad that your ering is moving! I have always loved your stone and setting! It is like the
perfect faceting pattern in the most perfect antique setting. Well, upward and onward, right? I'm sure when I see the two
stones as earrings I will love them also!

Aren't you the one who started out with a pear ering in a halo setting? That one didn't last long if I remember correctly, or
maybe that wasn't you?

Yes that was- I have had many iterations. And I don’t mind lol

Cannot wait for these studs to be in your ears! You & I are friends of old & I love how our jewellery journeys have played out on here, both starting with a pear cut. Though you have FAR more rings & classier taste than I do :lol-2:

So you need to go style yourself up & post beautiful modelling pictures with your beautiful cheek bones! I am off to my bed now as it’s later here, but I’ll be like a rabid dog getting to my pad in the morning to check :kiss2::lol-2:

Haha god no I wish!!! I meant delivered to DK. I get so anxious with them in the mail

What a fabulous match! They will be incredible studs. I love your rainbow collection. The blue sapphire especially makes my heart pitter-patter. But your e-ring has always been my absolute favourite. I have looked for a similar setting for years, but I’ve never seen one the same. If you decide to rehome her, she’d be very loved at my place

I am definitely saving her where the plat is being scrapped (it’s broken) o have not decided yet what I’m doing I wonder if I’ll find something for it in the future or what lol. I am always scheming - but I have to consider letting her go too so who know

Cheers to us in our dual stud adventures! Beautiful stones, Niel!!

I had 6mm studs once and I agree, on me I thought they were too small. But 7.5 feels pretty good! And obviously I love the make on those stones. Maybe it’s “sad” to take your first stone out of the setting, but because you thought to do it, now you have two of those rare cuts and frankly two is better than one.
