With this summer half over, how is everything going?? Some of us have less than a year to go, so how is it all coming along?

FI and I are thisclose to having our venue booked (we''re just saving up for the down payment). We have our photog booked, DJ booked, I have my dress, my shoes, and have a pretty clear picture of how everything is going to look (favors, flowers, color scheme), etc.

How are your plans coming along?

Ummm...I have bought some wedding planning magazines and we are trying to find a venue. Also, I have asked my bridesmaids.

Yeah...not that much done. In my defense, we have been way more focused on the new house than the wedding!

That''s progress, LP!!! The house is the most important thing right now, though!! Good luck with everything with the house.

When did you decide on for your date? I didn''t see you on the BIW list, or are you guys just planning for a summer wedding?

Wow, pp, how are you this far ahead?! I''m kinda jealous.

I haven''t set a date yet, but I think it''ll be the last August or first September weekend, which still counts as summer, right?

I haven''t got anything confirmed yet.

I do have a shortlist of venues which we will visit end of July. I''m getting married in Italy (unless I hate all the venues, which is highly unlikely). I also have a shortlist of local coordinators, whom I will interview on the same trip.

Right now, I am working on a shortlist of photographers.

I have two different possible images in my head as for the look and feel of the wedding (colors, etc.) and the final venue choice will determine which one we''ll go with.

I''ve gone on two dress shopping trips and found two serious possibilities, but I need to do more shopping. I do know the type of dress that I''ll go for, which is slim/mermaid, draped, and simple.

Nothing yet in terms of band/DJ, ceremony music, officiant, florist, cake vendor, etc.

I am trying to get as much as possible done in the next six weeks before I start my master''s program, because I know it will be a stressful year.

princessplease- My goodness girl look at you go! So you are planning so far in advance (IMO) you will have plenty of time to just enjoy being an engaged girl...eh?

Thats me! I'm a next summer bride! Sunday 1st August to be precise.

So far the solid things that we have done are-
Booked the venue (catering is included)
Booked photographer
Booked florist
Booked registrar
Asked witnesses, bridesmaid and best (wo)man.
Booked our coordinator

Bridezilla things that I have started doing-
I have developed an unhealthy addiction to wedding guff and get excited on the first Thursday of the month as the new bridal mags are out.
Subscribed to virtually every blog suggested on here and have starred things in my Google reader that I love
I have tried on dresses but won't buy yet as next years stock isn't out yet and I want to loose some more weight.
I've lost 23lb (although I was on WW prior to getting engaged).
Started having regular facials as I am sick of my skin (although I am fast realising nearly all my problems are hormonal)
Had long discussions with DF about plans for our future and we have made the decision for me to come off the depo-provera due to long term fertility problems.
Although we won't be going to pre-marriage counselling we have been to genetic counselling as well.

I''m getting married July 31, 2010 and so far all we''ve officially booked is the venue. I''ve started interviewing vendors though. I''ve met with one band and am seeing another one tomorrow. Two photography appointments tonight. A couple more bands next week so we can choose and finalize. Gotta get the florist booked and then I can rest for a bit. Have some appointments lined up for 8/7 for those. I wanted to get all the big things booked and done so I can go back to the blissful, relaxed engaged girl that I used to be before all this planning got in the way!

Oh, and I''ve booked some dress appointments too for the end of August. I can''t wait for those!

It''s going to be an exciting year for all of us for sure!

I just got engaged on Saturday
9.gif
, but we are definitely planning a summer 2010 wedding.

Location Short List:
1. Oahu
2. Napa
3. San Francisco

We live in the Bay Area so the last two locations are within 40 minutes of where we live. FI''s family is from Hawai''i so that would be easier on his family''s side. Until we''ve decided the location, we obviously can''t book vendors :) PP, I''m really impressed that you''ve gotten so much done! Kudos girl!

Oooh! Kind of date twin! Well, the same weekend at least!

oooh yay I love this thread!! I love talking about the upcoming big day!! We have our very first meeting at a possible venue this Saturday at 3pm. I am so excited..and they still have the date we want available!

Ooo OOO this is me!!! I''m June 26, 2010

Booked church + requested pastor
Booked country club (reception) - have begun working with coordinator on our "vision"
Booked photographer

Dress is chosen - purchasing 7/21
Bridal party is chosen, and they are all stoked!
Colors - almost positive we''re doing cobalt blue and orange
Honeymoon - decided on 7 day Western Caribbean cruise (will book this fall)
In contact with premarital counselor (req''d by our church)

Next up: shop DJs, contact whiteflash re. custom bands, work on guest list (addresses, etc.), reserve block of hotel rooms, figure out stationary (I want to keep a consistent theme, and it will likely be DIY)

Having a blast!!!!

Yay to all of the summer ''10 brides!!! We''re coming along wonderfully!!!!!!

Mscushion, I''m in the same boat as you with school. I''ll be going back for my 2nd year of my M.A. in September, and I really want most of it done before then. I really don''t want to be doing any major planning during winter break, and my weekends and two weeknights will be filled with classes and giant papers, lol! Italy!!!???

Girl, that is AMAZING!!!!! Once you visit the venues, PLEASE post pictures!!!!
9.gif

Dreamgirl, that''s what I was going for. I want to be under as little stress as I possibly can be with the wedding during the next year, so I''m doing what I can get done now. I''m also very meticulous and am a huge planner, so once I have ideas swirling around in my head, I need to get them out, lol! My vendors are pretty awesome with allowing us to do payment plans, so we''re paying the photog monthly over 14 months rather than a few big lump sums, so it''s easier financially as well.

SapphireLover, isn''t google reader the BESTEST invention ever????!!!!!
9.gif

Marlie, sounds awesome! Hope all goes well with the photogs and other vendors you have lined up in the next month.

News_girl, thanks and congrats on the recent engagement. Hawaii sounds absolutely breathtaking for a wedding location!!! I''m sure that would be a blast to plan. And honeymoon spot is right there!
31.gif

Bjedifish, Good luck with the venue appointment on Saturday!!! Let us know how it goes!

Laughwithme, you go girl!!!! You got a lot done!!!!

laughwithme - we''re date twins!!!

My fiance and I got engaged on June 10th 2009 and are planning a June 26, 2010 wedding!

We visited many venues this past weekend, and even considering eloping, but finally chose a venue. The ceremony and reception will take place here. It was being held for us, and an email was sent saying we definitely wanted it, so we''re almost officially booked! I will call tomorrow.

We spoke with the caterer (on-site) and will just need to secure it and then start on the menu. The caterer already knows "our vision" and is really on our side for making things affordable!
3.gif

The bridesmaids have been chosen and informed. The best man has been chosen and informed...now if only my fiance can make the final decision about who his groomsman will be!

I will be doing the flowers and invites, but probably won''t start on the invites until late summer/fall.

Colors are "kind of" chosen...I keep going back and forth from coral, ivory, chocolate brown and green to yellow (the wedding will be in Pittsburgh, after all!)

We picked our cupcake bakery, just need to try them and book the date.

I''ve been in contact with J. Crew about bridesmaids dresses in a coral color, and may have styles already picked out.

We''ll be doing music on an iPod, but may hire a Mariachi band for fun, or have some family friends play while I walk down the isle.

Favors will be a donation to Make a Wish.

Wedding bands still need to be bought, dress shopping will happen when I lose some more weight, and the centerpieces and seating cards are still being worked out in my head!

phew! Thank goodness I have awhile!!!
6.gif

Most of my friends have had engagements that were 9 months or less, so that has been my excuse to date. However, it seems as though everyone and their brother/cousin/aunt are getting engaged after us, and married before us. So there is a definite desire to keep on top of it all.

We have our date! 8/21/10
Our venue is booked-ceremony on-site
Dress is bought, and in my closet.
Friend will officiate, so I like to count that as things checked off the list.
Registry is 70% complete (people kept asking for one)
Wedding website is also about 70% complete.

Photographer is the next biggest hurdle.

looks like we have TRIPLETS!! I''m a June 26, 2010 bride as well!!

Looks like most of us are on the ball! For some reason, even though I have quite a bit done, I still feel far behind. I guess I just figured there would be things for us to do every day!

Cinnamongurl: we sort of have the same color palate! Only differences is green is our main color and instead of coral we are having a subtle peach. You''ve got great taste! haha!

So back to the question... I have:

- Bridesmaids and MOH
- Groomsmen and BM
- Church
- Reception hall
- Colors
- Live Band
- Rehearsal dinner spot
- Caterer- he is a family friend who will do it. YUMMY BBQ!!!
- BM dresses are down to 2
- Bought my dress and veil
- Talked to a rentals/florist the other day (waiting on a bid)
- My wedding band is bought and in a safe
- Wedding Website (If that counts)
- Photographer
- Bridesmaids gifts purchased (just need them monogrammed)

Wow I guess that is a lot! We''re looking at honeymoon places for about 3k.... any suggestions??? Ohh and i''m gonna be calling some hotels tomorrow to see about blocking some rooms off for out of town guests. Anyway, I guess that''s all for now so good luck planning ladies! I''m having a blast and I hope y''all are too!!

What is up with these Guys of ours? Last night I was showing DF our wedding website (yes sometimes I have too much time on my hands) and mentioned that I wanted to put pictures of the bridal party up with just a short statement about who they are in our lives etc...

His response? Well, I guess I better ask them before we post their names
23.gif
Now I assure you, we have not been rushing anything, we were engaged before the start of 2009...I asked my women who are standing up with me in April? It''s not that he doesn''t know who he is asking...he just hasn''t.
AND one of them has already asked him in the meantime, to be a GM in his wedding! Sigh...boys...

DF hasn''t asked ushers yet as our group of friends has changed so much over the past few years for many different reasons, and the wedding is over a year away, so he is going to ask nearer the time.

I am only having 1 BM and she is my cousin.

Yay for same wedding weekend Sapphire Lover! We both have around 385 days or so to go! I don''t know how I''m going to wait.

Everybody sounds like they are well under way! I know once I get the band booked I''ll be able to breath a little. That, for me, seems to be the toughest decision! I just want everyone to love the music and dance ALL night. Once that is booked I feel like the rest is easy.

I''ve officially asked all my bridesmaids and my sister is my MOH and FI has asked his bro to be best man and has kind of asked his groomsmen but I guess I should nudge him on that one!

I think I''ve sort of settled on colors too. What do you think of greyish, pewter for bridesmaids dresses with mostly white/green flowers with pops of purple. I originally wanted black dresses for bridesmaids with bright flowers but i thought maybe that''s not nice to do to the BM''s in July in hot sticky nyc.

When did you decide on for your date? I didn''t see you on the BIW list, or are you guys just planning for a summer wedding?

We''re looking at mid to late July, but we don''t have an official date set until we book our venue. It seems like all the venues out there are so expensive!

8.gif
I''m sorry LP that you''re having a tough time with venues. It''s crazy how pricey some can be. FI and I were originally going to have my dad cater through his restaurant, and one venue wanted $150pp just for the venue rental, without food!!!
I wish you and FI luck and dust in finding one that works for you guys.

princessplease i just saw we are date twins!! 7/31/10, right?

i''ve been making some progress since this thread has last been updated.
-making the final band decision this friday. seeing one more tomorrow and then just picking one. for some reason i find this decision to be the hardest. even tougher than the venue!
-saw a few photographers. seeing 2 more and then also, just going to make a decision and book it!
-florist appointments have been set up for 8/7. seeing 3 and then deciding.

i feel so relieved that in a couple of weeks all of the big decisions will have been made.

how''s everyone else progressing?

You are right. We are date twins!!!!!

I'm happy I have a date twin now!!! My family decided to spring for the extra money for a Saturday, and after coordinating with all of our vendors, 7/31 was the only date everyone was available. It's a comforting feeling when all of the big things are done. My latest issue has been deciding on what kind of flowers I want to carry. I just bought my veil and tiara yesterday since I have family in town who wanted to help me out in picking (they won't be back up here until the shower, and I wanted the accessories done).

summer bride here!

we''re pretty much done with the essential stuff! honestly, we can get married next month if we want to because we''ve basically booked everything that''s needed for a wedding!

Sigh, I started really head strong last month, but things are halted because of finances. We don''t even know what our budget is yet. My mom is going to help, but how much is unknown. We asked my grandpa, he hasn''t responded beyond "It''s a reasonable request, I''ll have to think about it." I have school loans and credit card debt from school that make it nearly impossible to save when I can only work part time due to a back injury. H is trying to pay of the e-ring. Arg. So yeah, we are at a big halt and trying to think about things that don''t cost money, like the music list. So far....

- Date: June 13th, 2010
- Synagogue booked, pretty sure we are having the reception here unless we choose a state park
- Deciding between two florists, not sure if I have the energy to go do some more consultations. I of course love the more expensive guy, he is fabulous!
- Consultation with a ketubah artist (Jewish Wedding contract) - again we love her, affording a custom piece is something we have to decide on, custom artwork for our wedding contract that will hang in our home the rest of our life. Or a pre-fab much cheaper version that cannot be customized to save money.
- Been dress shopping 3 times now, going out again this weekend I think!
- Bought a vintage dress to use the 360 degree lace for something; bolero/shawl, veil, detachable train, custom add on to a gown, etc
- May have my shoes already, picked them up to go with the dress for my mom''s wedding, but they are fabulous and so comfortable!
- Color scheme decided - Horizon blue from David''s with bright orange and pink accents
- Favors will again depend on finances, either garden to go (think mini pots with flowers in them, arranged at different heights as a center piece, every one takes one when they leave) or place cards that say we have donated to the Humane Society.
- Our first dance will be to "Answer" by Sarah McLauchlin
- Our huge bridal party has all been asked. 5 bridesmaids, 5 groomsmen, 1 jr. BM, 2 flower girls, 2 ring bearers, 4 ketubah signers, 2 ushers, 1 attendant.
- Guest lists A & B have been made and are continually changed here and there.

I am thinking these are all the decided things, we have thrown around some processional songs, but no decisions. Thanks for this thread PP! It was fun and good for me to look at this in writing!

You''re welcome, ILS!!! You have a LOT done, girl!!!!!! I completely understand about the guest list thing. I change it at least 3x/week!! Thank heavens for the Knot''s guestlist manager!

oh no! i feel so behind! you girls are good!!

I''m May 29, 2010, can I still play??

We have our venue, DJ, caterer, photographer, JP, I have my dress, we have a "theme", and now we are looking for a florist. I am on a never ending search for shoes, and I think I know what color the BM dresses will be. I am also going to book my hair/makeup and limo within the next few days.
