Has anyone seen any good movies or are you anticpating any??? Please share!

I can't wait for the new "Harry Potter Movie" to come out soon!
The new "Hairspray" w/John Travolta looks funny too

ETA: hehehe I meant Movies not Moives.

I am so excited for Harry Potter, especially after seeing the new previews! It looks absolutely fantastic. Plus, the fact that the new (and last!) book is coming out in the same month just makes me giddy.

That and Ratatouille. Love Pixar, and love Brad Bird.

My husband wants to see the new Die Hard moive
11.gif
I suppose I will have to go with him as we are due a date night. I might just have a nap when we are there lol..... Not really my kind of movie

I've seen Knocked Up, Ocean's 13, 1408, and Shrek the Third. My favorite out of those was DEF. Knocked Up--I already pre-ordered the DVD!

I feel obligated to see Pirates but don't really want to.

I can't WAIT for Harry Potter and Ratatouille. I also want to see License to Wed, not really for any other reason than John Krasinski (ohhhhhhh LOVE HIM). Kind of want to see Evan Almighty and Hairspray.

...And I kind of hate to admit it, but I'll probably end up seeing I Know Who Killed Me, No Reservations, Captivity and Sunshine

I was really disappointed watching Pirates of the Caribbean. It was confusing and the story was all over the place. I felt it had a rather sad ending (although it does open up the chance of a future movie).

I still fancy Johnny Depp though!

I totally agree with you, Maisie, the Pirates ending made me sad. Did you stay until after the credits, though?

Also, I really want to see Knocked Up, I LOVED 40 Year Old Virgin, and if this is any of the same, MUST see it! I too adore John Krasinski, and have to see License to Wed, it''s a trade- FI sees Die Harder (I know it''s not called that) and I see License to Wed.

And of course Harry Potter!

I didn''t stay until after the credits but my son told me what happened. I never wait till after - I probably should - but my rear was very numb after sitting for so long lol!

How was 1408? I love Cusack, so it''s on my list.

I want to see:
Oceans 13
1408
Ratatouille
Pirates (I heard it was only worth a rental, so might wait unless DH has his way)

1408 was good. Hmm. I just go back and forth as to how I feel about it. I think that if you''re a John Cusack fan in general, you''ll def. enjoy it
1.gif
he does well in the movie I think...

AmberWaves--FI and I are lucky, I just happen to LOVE John Krasinski and he happens to LOVE Mandy Moore, so both of us will enjoy that one! However, the two of us may come out mooning over our celeb crushes!

I'd like to see Ocean's 13. And maybe possibly Die Hard 4, I kinda still like Bruce Willis in that role.
1.gif

However...can someone please tell me why they made another "Hairspray" movie???? Wasn't the movie with Ricki Lake as Tracy Turnblatt the original?? And was this not a classic (even though it just came out in what the 80's)? Then the stage production followed right? Sorry for all the questions, but I was perplexed when I saw some snippets from the upcoming new movie. It just makes no sense to me why they needed to do a re-make this early in the game.

One Drop,

Your note reminds me that my wife may not mind seeing the new Die Hard. I'd like to see it. My boys will I'm sure/hope get me to Harry (maybe) and Simpsons (only maybe...the news of the frontal nudity genuinely caused concern!).

Is it scary???

We just saw "Mr Brooks". We both thought it was *really* good.

HI:

Have seen Pirates, and Fantastic Four. LOOKING forward to Die Hard this weekend, and Harry Potter at a later date. Will wait for Oceans on rental, altho it is difficult NOT to spend big bucks to see George Clooney on the big screen. Swoon

.

cheers--Sharon

I've got kids, so we've seen Spiderman 3, Fantastic 4 Rise of the Silver Surfer, and Pirates of the Caribbean (twice 'cuz my daughter is in love with Orlando Bloom
20.gif
). We are literally counting the hours now until Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (which was our favorite Potter book so far) and the kids also want to see Surf's Up and Ratatouille. I really could care less about the animated movies. I'm okay with the live action stuff, though. Of the ones we've seen so far, I probably enjoyed the Fantastic 4 movie the most, just because it seemed to move along the quickest and had lots of humor.

I'd like to see Oceans 13, so I'm planning a date night for myself and the hubby for that. There is another movie coming out, I think the name of it is Evening, with Meryl Streep, Glenn Close, Claire Danes, and Vanessa Redgrave that looks good, but since it's obviously a "chick flick", I may have to wait until it comes out on DVD. Unless I can convince the hubby to take the kids for an evening and I can find a girlfriend who also wants to see it.

Edited to add: We did see Shreck the Third, too...almost forgot about that one. It was cute. I have liked all of the Shreck movies so far. I almost forget that they are animated even.

I want to see Knocked Up, License to Wed, and Ocean''s 13 so far. We just saw A Mighty Heart and it was really good. I haven''t seen too many trailers yet since my FI and I haven''t watched TV in a while. We''ll probably end up seeing Evan Almighty but we might get it on Netflix.

Has anyone seen Little Children with Jennifer Connelly and Kate Winslet? We just watched it the other night and parts of it are really creepy and one part in particular is extremely disturbing. My FI really liked the movie. I''m curious what others thought.

I confess: I really enjoyed Pirates of the Carribean. All three of them.

We also saw Mr. Brooks, and I agree with Tacori that it was EXCELLENt. But it scared the cr@p out of me. If I had known how scary it was, I probably wouldn''t have gone.

FI (yay! still love saying that) wants to see Ratatouille. Me too.

My husband and I decided spur of the moment to go to the movies Sat night. We just picked a movie out by the posters--and sat in Mr, Brook''s. We watched the most horific previews and when the movie started I leaned over to DH and whispered, "I think it is a horror movie". I went out to ask a kid that worked there and they said yes, so I rushed back in to the movie and waved to my husband to leave, (RUUUNNNNN AWAAYYYY I am thinking) So we left as soon as we could. I can''t stand scary movies--the previews almost did me in!!!

Really???? I didn''t think it was that scary! Maybe I have more tolerance. I HATE scary movies that are just meant to scare you (like "the ring") but I love more thriller/suspense. I also thought his character was so likable so therefore less scary. We also saw "Ocean''s 13" which was good. I really want to see "waitress" but it doesn''t seem to be playing anywhere by me. My sister told me to skip "knocked up" until after the baby is born. She said the labor screens would freak me out

GO SEE KNOCKED UP!!!!!! Seriously, it is the hardest I''ve laughed at a movie in years... I couldn''t stop!!
31.gif
You know the scene in 40-year-old Virgin where Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen are sitting in armchairs playing Nintendo, tossing insults back and forth at each other? That is EXACTLY what this entire movie is... the two of them being hilarious with each other... their comic timing is amazing. The birth scene was a bit graphic (did we really need to see THAT much detail?) but manageable. It was the kind of movie that I could see once and immediately want to watch it again... but I tend to have a "unique" sense of humor.

I agree with Maisie. Half the time I couldn''t figure out what the heck was going on in Pirates. I guess it was worth it just to see Jonny Depp though. The first Pirates was definitely the best. Also saw Spiderman 3 which I enjoyed, but again the first two movies were better. Dh and I saw Oceans 13 and liked it. It was the best of the summer movies I''ve seen so far. I took my 13 yr. old DD to see Nancy Drew. We liked it but I think it could have been better. Next, I really want to see Live Free or Die Hard. And since I''ve seen all the others, I''m sure I''ll see the new Harry Potter.

Ephem, that is my FAVORITE part of 40 YOV, "Because you macramaed (sp?) a pair of jean shorts."

Okay, now I have to see Knocked up.

I want to see Hostel 2. Only because there is an actor I like who''s in it. And Fantastic Four. I just adore Julian McMahon. I have this thing for little known actors.

Hehe... that was definitely my favorite part too!! There is an equally amusing line in Knocked Up that my DH and I keep repeating to each other...

I feel bad for building it up so much, since movies are always more fun when you don''t expect them to be THAT funny... so forget everything I said!!

totally off topic: Skippy, thank you, thank you, thank you for posting that picture of Julian McMahon!!
30.gif
What a hottie! you just brought a little light into my busy day.

Yum. Thanks Skippy. Oh, I can''t believe I forgot. I also want to see Highlander 5: The Source. If and when it comes out. I''ve been keeping track about this movie in progress for 2 years now. Peter Wingfield, who plays Methos is why I want to see it. He''s a Welch actor. Love a man with an accent. Especially if Welch, Scottish, Russian or New Zeland.

HA! Sounds like me. I'm actually SO BUMMED that DH has a poker game @ his boss's house on Fri night -- cuz I wanted to see Ratatouille on opening night!! Which is KKRAAAAZZZIIEEE because I *hate* animation. Seriously. The last animated film I went to willingly was, um, ALADDIN maybe? But this one just charms me. I love Paris -- maybe that's it. Maybe it's because I love cooking shows ... I dunno. But I saw a trailer for it when we were in Ireland and I've been psyched for it ever since!

John K. is my new CRUSH! Have you seen the latest photo spreads of him in mags -- HOT HOT HOT. He's so "of another era" or something. Retro cool & dead-pan-hilarious.

I'm also dying to see KNOCKED UP ... we've been trying to see it at the Drive In theater but weather/schedule etc hasn't worked out yet. AIIGGGH.
