Okay my fellow TV-ophiles....what are you watching this summer? What's on your Season Pass for TiVo?

I just added Bridezillas and something else I can't recall right now (which is pretty sad and tells you how lame the show probably is)....but I need more stuff to add because otherwise it's reruns of Sex and the City all summer long for me.
9.gif

I'm catching up on missed Smallville and Supernatural episodes that I had to nix when they overlapped with something else...but other than that, zilcho. Help!
5.gif
Greg has been Tivo'ing his racing so he's happy but I feel bereft!!

For us Entourage just started... which is such a fun show! Waiting anxiously for the Friday night Sci-Fi channel line up to start back up-- Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis and Battlestar Galactica (especially after the absolutely SHOCKING season finale). Gonna catch up on missed episodes of House. And... I think that''s about it. Maybe Deadwood... watched the first season and most of last season... but not sure I''m still into it as much. Probably just rent the DVD''s of the seasons as they come out.

Not really DVRing much... some HGTV shows. The Daily Show. Yeah... not a great TV summer.

Ahhhh TIVO....TIVO is now playing an interesting "role" in our relationship right now regarding sharing
3.gif
. We''re not married, I make more $, work a lot more hours and days, and I bought and pay for the TIVO. You would think that I would get 1st priority or that there would as many (if not more) of my shows on there but nooooooo. On season pass manager, he moves my stuff to the least priority, I move it right back. I tell him to get all his old sh*t off the memory..he hogs the whole thing and lets my stuff get deleted.....can you tell this a loaded issue for me
3.gif

Anyway.....my new lineup is:

The Closer
Weeds (in July)
Deadwood (although like Gypsy, I''m not into it as much anymore)
It''s always Sunny in Philadelphia (very soon)
The Office repeats (US version because Supernatural took precedent during the regular season, I think)
The wacky 15 min still animation Tom Goes To The Mayor
Bridezillas
Project Runway is coming back (can''t wait, I''m in withdrawal now that Top Chef is over)

and on a stupid note- I became addicted to watching the town zoning hearings on local cable access. One camera with very poor audio filming all the requests for building variences. I don''t own property, nothing is really going to effect me, but I keep watching- it''s like a very boring drug...and when I confessed to my Mom she watches it too, and so does a Dr she works with..we''re such losers!

Hehe, Mara -- I, too, am catching up on old episodes of Smallville. Actually, the ones I have watched so far from last season have been pretty good. But then again, I could be saying this because I have absolutely nothing else to watch.

I''m a little embarassed to admit it, but the only new show I''ve been TIVO''ing is "The Hills" on MTV. I liked Lauren (LC) from Laguna Beach, so I figured I''d watch and see how she''s doing now that she''s in LA. My sister thinks I''m sad because I get all into these pseudo-teenage-reality shows that are clearly scripted.

Other than that, DH has been TIVO''ing a landscaping show for us -- Landscapers Challenge? It''s where people have a nasty yard, set a budget to fix it up, get three competitive bids / plans from different landscapers, and then they show you the finished product. We''re planning to build our "dream house" in 2008-2009, so DH thinks it''s relevant.

I also need to catch up on Smallville. I haven''t seen Bridezilla''s really want to see that. And Hills is on my list as well. Summer TV can be pretty boring. I hope they add some fun new shows.

I just recently added The 4400 and Bridezillas to my Season Passes for the summer. TiVo''s been uncharacteristically quiet since most of the big shows I watch had their season finales. I''m guessing it''s time to reclaim the cost effectiveness of my Netflix subscription. I haven''t been turning movies around quite as frequently as I used to...but that''s what summer''s for I guess!

Bridezillas
The Office (US version)
Neat (Discovery Home channel, I think, on Monday nights)
So You Think You Can Dance (not great so far)
Most anything on HGTV or Discovery Home

Bridezillas????

What channel is that on?

I''m looking forward to Treasure Hunters and America''s Got Talent.

And my old standby''s: The Office, Deadliest Catch, Whose Wedding is it Anyways?, and the World Poker Tour.

Yeah, Bridezillas, what channel is that?

The Office is my new favorite show. (NBC version)

The Office is on NBC.

I just saw an ad for Treaure Hunters...what is that??

Thanks for all the tips, gals, I knew I could count on you...I will have to investigate a few of the shows and see what I can add.

LOL FF re the TiVo wars....yes I am always asking Greg 'you aren't adding too many things right? right? right?'...he always adds like 10 hours of racing and then DOESNT watch it and then blames me for deleting them even though TiVo does it...hehee. Gotta love it. I still want to get the upgraded hard drive but we haven't gotten around to it yet. Once we have 200+ hours of storage, he can TiVo all the racing he wants!

Hell''s Kitchen. It''s a reality chef-in-training show on Fox. We''re NOT a big reality fan at al but we love this show. Maybe it''s because I like to cook; maybe it''s Gordon Ramsey''s dry, tell-it-like-it-is humor. I don''t know but we''e addicted.

For those of you who asked... I think Bridezillas is on WE. And Style was having their 21 days of weddings... is that over yet?? But for you netflickers, I think they have old seasons of bridezilla on dvd now!

Thanks! My TIVO is all set!

WELL - we have a dvr not TIVO but same thing really. And these days I don''t think I could watch regular TV!

we''ve got "season passes" for (summer shows anyway):
The Closer
4400
Entourage
Bridezillas
Deadliest Catch (although that may have just ended)
Aqua Teen Hunger Force (some of the funniest, weirdest stuff you will ever seen in a cartoon)

we tape when we notice:
any documentary we haven''t already seen (we just taped this amazing series on China - very interesting)
America''s Test Kitchen (great recipes with interesting hosts talking about how and WHY you cook things a certain way -- plus each episode features at least 2 reviews of "cooking" products - either ingredients or tools)
Anything on HGTV, Discovery or History
Any cheesy B movie that I never managed to rent before

you know my post makes it seem like all we do is watch TV -- but sadly most of the shows are still waiting to be watched! he he -- good thing we have the big DVR so that it doesn''t delete all our shows...

The only show that I am addicted to and have to see each and every episode is The 4400. I just loooove this show. I stay away from any other series because it is just too darn hard to see all the episodes!

The wierdest thing for me lately, is I''ve been watching a lot of HSN! I''ve never ever bought anything from it, and I don''t really want to, but for some reason the boringness and watching them repeatedly fawn over each and every item just sucks me in. I mostly watch it late at night, and I prefer the jewelry and cosmetic shows. It''s so embarassing...

okay so i watched ''so you think you can dance'' tonite from last week and i''m hooked!!! it will nicely fill the time while i wait for the next dancing with the stars! i love this kind of dancing stuff. the show itself it a little chintzyish but the dancing is awesome! i love all the different dances and choreography.

ixnay on the bridezillas per another post i made in the bridezilla thread, i just don''t think i can watch any more of those!!!

still tivo''ing other things...thanks for all the awesome shows to check out!!! tivo''s getting full!

I can''t wait until project runway comes back!!! I also like the 4400. I DVR "Who''s wedding is it anyway" and "real weddings from the knot" (for ideas mostly) I also am embarrassed to admit that I watch "the hills" and "fast ink" (that car show on MTV that is pretty cool). I also LOVE any Law and Order.

okay i just added ''ghost whisperer'' which i never saw last season...

and also found some new random show called ''tuesday night book club'' on CBS 5 ... it looks like some knockoff of Desperate Housewives. we''ll see...

and i''m still watching reruns of sex and the city. i just wish they were somehow in order. hahah.

How to get the guy
So you think you can dance

I''ve added pretty much all crime shows (Criminal minds was good but scary if your in a big house alone at 11:00...I was CONVINCED there was a serial killer in my boyfriend''s basement
9.gif
), and HOUSE. Basically stand alone rerun shows where you don''t have to see the whole season to be hooked.

I am enjoying "Saved" on TNT. It''s a new series about a paramedic who is a little bit of a loser, his father is a big shot doctor and he was in med school, but dropped out. It''s a series made by TNT and one thing I quite enjoy about it is they have a little bit of swearing - there''s us watching with me yelling incredulously at the tv, "he said prick?? He actually said PRICK on cable TV?!?!?" I think I spilled some juice when he gave someone the bird : ) I''m so sick of the way cable tones down stuff, so it''s nice to see a show and network where they don''t, that''s not on HBO, Showtime or another of the premium networks. The pilot was last week and this Monday was the second show. I am sure they will be re-airing things.

Looking forward to "Nightmares and Dreamscapes" in July, a few Stephen King stories into a made for tv mini-series.

Other than that I watch American Justice a lot, Notorious, The Evidence is a good one. Interesting take on the crime show. Pretty much any Law & Order.

If you like sit coms, "How I Met Your Mother" is good and so is "The New Adventures Of Old Christine", of course, "The Office", oh,oh and one of our favourties is "The Late Late Show with tv''s Craig Ferguson" he''s a hoot.

Enjoy summer tv : )

I wish you well,

Bridget

Mara - I feel your pain. Summer TV is very sad. May I suggest Netflix? Me and Jan (my FI) have started watching movies to fill the void. They have TONS of documentaries, which really are nothing more than high brow reality tv.

I''ve started watching So You Think You Can Dance, Last Comic Standing, and the 4400. The first two are alright. The 4400 is pretty interesting.

I''m considering Hell''s Kitchen. Anyone watch it? Oh, and Treasure Hunters (aka, the amazing race redux).

Yeah. But really, kind of slim pickins'' in the summer.

I''ll spend the summer catching up on Tivo''ed eps that I was unable to watch during the regular season: CSI, Law and Order SVU, Without a Trace, and King of Queens. I must have like 5 eps of each to catch up on! I''m also Tivoing So You Think You Can Dance but it''ll be awhile before I can watch them all. My kids are at high-maintenance ages so we almost never watch TV these days.
15.gif
We have a Netflix subscription (pretty much pointless) but usually hang on to a movie for like 4-5 months before we actually watch it!

Tivo found me two new shows I''m enjoying... "It''s always sunny in Philadelphia" and "Lucky Louie". They''re both sort of dark humor but they''re good. We also just noticed the Sleuth channel so I''ve been watching the old series "Homicide: Life on the Streets", which was the precursor to Law and Order, I think. Detective Munch started out on Homicide. I live in Baltimore so I''m enjoying seeing my city rather accurately portrayed on tv... even though the series is almost 10 years old. I was in college back then, and it aired on Friday nights, so I completely missed it the first time around.

As for the Tivo war, we solved that by getting a second box. He has his, I have mine, and that way we both get what we want. They''re also networked so we can move shows back and forth, and program them remotely via the internet. Very cool. Can you tell I''m a geek?

I also started watching Janice Dickinson's Modeling Agency, against my better judgment. She's so melodramatic and slightly loony toons it's kinda funny. I hadn't heard about Nightmares and Dreamscapes. I've read a lot of Stephen King and loved it. His miniseries are always crappy though. Still, I have a compulsion to check all of them out so I'll be on the lookout for this. I still have SATC reruns recording on TiVo even though I own the box set!!

OMG last nite I sunk to new summer TV lows when I watched ''The Ultimate Coyote Ugly Search''....about how the famous bar owner is looking for new girls to staff a new bar or something. I was actually disappointed when that episode finished, and I realized I''d missed back to back episodes and I guess it''s done because I couldn''t find it playing in TiVo to record. Darn!!! I wonder who made it?!

Greg came downstairs and was like ''are you still watching crap tv? you''ve been sitting there for hours!!''...
40.gif
hehee. he was just jealous because he had to do like 2 hours of work last nite. He WISHES he coulda been watching with me.
11.gif

FG, "Nightmares & Dreamscapes" premiers on TNT on July 12th at 9pm. They are doing 8 stories in an interesting format. Two stories a night for four Wednesday nights. The first airs at 9pm, the next at 9:50pm. More information HERE

They usually screw King''s stuff up, but I also keep watching in case they get it right. Hope springs eternal.

I wish you well,

Bridget

My friend from NYC was up for a weekend visit, and though we''d both already watched the 2 hour performance show -- we watched it AGAIN together! I think I''ve played the "Too Much Booty In The Pants" number about five times. That Shane Sparks is a fab choreographer -- I even liked the routine the other Hip Hop couple flubbed.

My only problem with the show: I already know who the top three couples will be: Swing Dancing Guy/Hip Hop Girl .... White Jazz Guy & Black Jazz Girl ... and Natalie & Mussa. Think it''s pretty telling I only remember two names. Natalie takes it all!

Oooooh, I LOVE 4400!!!! Except that whenever we watch it my fiance always makes comments about how they''re ripping off Star Trek and Star Trek did it better. GRRR, DON''T CARE!!!!
29.gif
THIS IS BETTER!!!! But he is still proud of me for liking a science fiction show at all!
20.gif

We also watch Hells Kitchen (although Gordon irritates me to no end, I still can''t help watching), and will definitely watch Project Runway when it''s back! Also, I think new episodes of Monk are starting soon, and that''s one of my favorite shows ever!!! Although I still miss Sharona (did anyone watch Monk back in the day?). My fiance also has recently started getting into So You Think You Can Dance (which I get to make fun of him for, hehe, because if IIIII were the one to turn it on, you know he''d be mocking me).

And I want to watch Bridezillas (hehehe and WifeSwap) but he won''t let me!!!
39.gif
And we don''t have TiVo, so the only way we can catch shows we miss is if they''re popular enough that people post them on torrents sites, which, sadly, Bridezillas isn''t.
