in the upcoming months! I''m apply for my fellowship in Hematology Oncology and competition this year is FIERCE! In an attempt to help my application I''m taking my Step 3 exam, which is the 3rd potion of my medical licensing exam on the 17th and 18th (16 hour exam

) in hopes of scoring well and boosting my CV. The gamble of it is, if I score well, my application gets a bonus, but if I don''t score well, I would have been better off delaying the exam until after the application process was over. I have been studying like a madwoman, trying to get the house ready to host our first Christmas for hubby''s family (~40ish people) and I just turned in my application for the fellowship which was one of the most frustrating computer experiences and I''m doing these practices case study simulations for the exam and I''m freezing and I never freeze on exams and..... aaaaaah!

Ahhh, GB, you will do great! I am sending my strongest do well vibes out to you! Okay, take lots of deep breaths and give yourself lots of pep talks; it works! Best wishes on your test and your party. . . oh and don''t pass on having people help you out for the party if they offer. You can do it!!!

Sending you tons of PS dust! Good luck! You can do it!

Ginger, you''ll do great! I think Step 3 is the easiest of the steps...I took it last year as an intern, and I finished the test both days before noon. And I did better than I did on Step 1 or Step 2. Oh yeah, and I didn''t study at all, either. All I did was practice a couple of those case scenarios at the end.

It''s just cause most people don''t study that much because for most things it doesn''t matter what score you get. I guess unless you are applying for a competitive fellowship. Besides, the test is heavily weighted towards medicine so that gets you an advantage as well, over people like me and ob/gyn and surgery and peds residents.

Anyway, good luck!

Sending buckets of fairy dust your way Ginger!!! Best of luck, I''m sure you''ll do great. Fingers and toes crossed for you as well, just for good measure!!!

GOOD LUCK GINGER!!! I have a feeling this is going to go VERRRY well for you!!! Sending good thoughts and fairy dust your way!!

Best of luck Ginger..you are one smart lady and I know you will do wonderfully...hang in there gal!!!

Ginger, it''s funny that you''re taking step 3 on Dec. 17th....that''s the exact same day I take step 2! Are you taking it at the testing center on Harwin? That''s where I''ll be. :) I''m currently studying my rear off as well!

I''m sure you''ll do great!!! You''ve got a lot of experience under your belt, and as Basil said, you''ve got an advantage in that your training is in IM. I will send lots of PS fairy dust for you, and perhaps I''ll run into at the testing center! That would be too funny.

Oh Ginger honey that is an awful lot on your plate right now!! I''m sure you''ll do wonderfully on your exam and get the best fellowship for you. I''ve got a bunch of clinical fellows in my lab, and they all said they were surprised that they all got their first choices for their fellowships - I''m sure you''ll get the same!!

Loads of fairy dust heading your way

oh..you guys are so great. it may sound weird, but ps is almost liek a security blanket for me. anytime i feel stressed or unhappy, i come here and there is always such an abundance of nice people and good vibes. definitely helps to balance out society versus some of the awful stuff i see in the county ER. hopefully i''ll be hearing soon about interviews. i''m already lying awake at night thinking about how i''m going to answer questions. is that sick or what? i have a feeling i''ll be needing some hand holding through this process. i feel like such a big baby right now.

skippy - you are always so sweet and thoughtful. i am definitely accepting help and putting hubby to work on the party. it''s just a bit stressful letting go with 1) my OCD personality, and 2) i want to make a good impression on his family so that they think i''m a "good wife". is that silly? oh and btw, you are just gorgeous! seriously killer smile

snlee - thank you! i am really really hoping i CAN do it!

basil - thanks for your encouraging words. i''m just worried i''ll get the fluke test that is heavily pedi weighted (based on my practice tests my worse subject. funny how adults and kids are amlost 2 diff species when it comes to medicine huh?). i would not be stressing as badly if i didn''t decide to take this to help my application.

kaleigh - i''ll take all the crossed fingers and toes i can get!

october2008bride - hello dress twin! thanks for the dust and thought! keep us updated on your wedding plans!

mrssalvo - i felt way smarter before i enterd medicine! but i''m trying to hang on and you glas are always a wonderful morale booster!

HMG - what is up lady?! i haven''t seen you around in forever! but i guess i''ll see you monday because yes i''ll be testing at harwin too! funny how small the world can be sometimes huh? good luck on your exam also!

AmberGretchen - oh I''m so jealous of your clinical fellows! i have to limit my application to the programs in houston so it severely decreases my chances of getting accepted. thank for the pep talk!

Good luck GingerB.!!! You are going to do STUPENDOUSLY WELL on this test, I can FEEL IT! You''re one smart cookie, you''ve been studying your booty off, and you are not. going. to. freeze. I have the utmost faith in your abilities, my friend. Hey, besides prepping your house for the holidays and studying up a storm, don''t neglect your lovely little double C bag...give her a kiss and a hug for me, will ya? Hate to see that little gal feeling lonesome, LOL!

Looking forward to hearing that you passed with flying colors....Love, Monnie!

Ginger, you''ll do amazingly well, I''m sure. But I''ll send lots of fairy dust your way anyways, because it makes you feel better! Good luck, deep breathes...

Good Luck! Just keep thinking about that big sigh of relief you get to let out as soon as you''re done with the test...I''m sure you''ll do great!

3 days til test day. and it''s one of THOSE days. y''know where your''e looking for something, and you know it''s in a certain drawer, and you look in the drawer, and it''s not there and you look five more times, and it''s still not there. then you tear apart the room looking and bother everyone about it and noone can help you, then you look in the drawer one last time and it''s sitting smack in the middle right where it was supposed to be the whole time staring at you like "idiot."

now repeat that scenario all day. and add a surprise visit from aunt flo.
