FI is in charge of the honeymoon (in January), and I really don't mind where we go - halfway around the world or close to home, skiing or beach, I'm up for anything. So I thought it would be fun if FI surprised me! He was a little hesitant at first but has been getting ideas from a few people and is now THRILLED with himself, dropping all sorts of funny hints and getting very excited about his planning efforts. He will tell me what kind of stuff I need to pack before we go, but beyond that, I won't find out til we're in the airport! I know he'll find something great, I'm so excited!

Plus it keeps him busy while I do the wedding stuff

What a brilliant idea!

That sounds so fun, and a great idea. My dad plans all my parents vacations and my mom loves it. She doesn''t have to worry about a thing, it''s completely stress free for her.

That''s so cute!!! You''re a lucky gal :0) I hope you go somewhere amazing!!!!

What a great fiance!!!!!!!!!

You will have a great time!

Oh my goodness! I LOVE this idea!! The anticipation will make whatever the destination may be seem THAT much more awesome! :)

Oh, that sounds like so much fun! I admire your bravery. So, will you pack a snow suit and a swimsuit?

Porridge, one of my friends and her husband (then fiance, of course) had a similar pact. He told her to pack all warm-weather, tropical, outdoorsy clothes for after their July wedding.

Too bad he didn''t realize that (1) summer in the Northern Hemisphere is winter in the Southern Hemisphere, (2) South Island New Zealand is a MUCH colder environment than North Island, and (3) off-season South New Zealand''s shops are mostly shuttered so her only option involved buying a pair of novelty sweatpants and sweatshirt at a desolate tourist shop and wearing those, shivering, day after day over her sundresses until they moved on to the capital.

Moral of the story: Well, either have someone trustworthy look at the plan with a second set of eyes, overpack a little off-instruction just in case, or... don''t marry people who spent little time in life outside of a computer lab!

i looooove this idea! so exciting! and the best part is it''s entirely stress free for you!

While I wouldn''t choose this myself (I had very specific ideas about what I wanted for a honeymoon!), it''s definitely a cool idea if you''re a laid-back, go-with-the-flow kind of person. Just one thing: you''ll need some sort of hint later on so you know how to pack! For my parents'' honeymoon, my dad did something that my mom really did not appreciate. He told her they were going skiing in the Poconos, but he actually took her to the Bahamas. When they got there, all she had was ski gear and warm clothes. Not cool!

aww... that''s sweet! I want my FI to do that too but we''ve already decided where we want to go...

that''s such a sweet idea!!

What a cool idea!!!!!! I''m sure he''ll pick an awesome location!

I LOVE the idea of that. I''ve thought about this in the past and heard of guys doing this. I can picture my guy doing this to me. Because I LOVE surprises but he knows it drives me batty when I know there is a surprise but I don''t know what it is. It''s like torture...

But still, it sounds like so much fun and what a doll he is. I bet it will be wonderful! Guess you have to wait. That''s the hardest part!

Wow! You sound like you are in for an adventure. If I left this task up to FI, we would be camping on the snowfields, followed by a few days down the coast, with the boards and probably the boys

I don''t think so!!!!!!

Sounds like a great idea! Wish my guy would get into stuff like that--he'd probably leave it to the last minute and we'd end up spending a couple of nights at some dirty budget motel in Nowheresville that's way overpriced because he doesn't shop around for deals.

wouldn''t work for me as i am a control freak, but it sounds like a wonderful idea for more carefree people

that''s so cute that your FI is so excited about it himself, i''m sure he knows you well enough to choose a great destination

Oh that sounds exciting! I''m tried to surprise FI with trips all the time, but end up spilling the beans. I''m sure you''ll love it!
