I don’t usually have much good to say about JTV (Jewelry Television), but recently I saw them showing some absolutely gorgeous pieces of faceted yellow zoisite (tanzanite), which I have read/heard is a very rare stone.
I quit buying anything from them quite awhile ago, as their gemstones are usually heavily windowed and are cut rather badly, etc. But these looked so nice that I decided to take a chance and get one, thinking I would send it back if it was not comparable to what I was seeing on TV.
I received the stone – listed as a 1.75 minimum carat weight, and mine was 2.80 ct, so quite a bit larger. But best of all the color and clarify knocked my socks off! A bright golden yellow – other shades of color visible as the light changes (as it is a pleochroic stone), and clarity was the best. No windowing in the stone at all, and all around fabulous cutting. I was quite surprised by this to say the least.
I have been a gem collector since 1990 and even got my AJP from GIA because I wanted to learn more about gems, etc. I have many books that I have read cover to cover and also have a large collection of gemstones, and I am VERY picky about how they are cut and the color, etc. I have to say, this is one of the best in my collection.
Has anyone else looked at these stones on JTV, and/or had any recent dealings with them? Maybe this was just a fluke that I got such a great stone….!?
