Okay, okay. It''s a made-up holiday. But I like it anyhow!

1) Let''s get some Sweetest Day proposals! I fully expect to come back on Monday and see some of you off this list.

2) What''s everyone doing for their sweets? Mine''s working, so I''m going to surprise him and stop by with his favorite dinner.

we''re probably just gonna go out to dinner at a fairly nice place that we have a gift card for. nothin too extravagant.

Of course I would LOVE a proposal on sweetest day but I''m not gonna get my hopes up

I hope it''s a good weekend for everyone else though!

it's just a made up "hallmark" holiday that falls on the 3rd Saturday in October... Kinda like a watered-down valentines day!

It's not really big everywhere in the country i don't think. Like here in the Chicago area you can't walk into a grocery store or drug store without being reminded - signs all over, cards and flowers by the registers... ads on the radio from jewelry stores reminding the guys about sweetest day! But when I lived in Iowa for about a year and a half they didn't have any of that.

Yeah, I grew up in Ohio (where it was definitely popular, since it supposedly originated in Cleveland) and now I''m in Chicago, so it might just be more popular in the Midwest.

I''m Canadian and I''ve never heard of the Sweetest Day before but I love it already! Since my BF said we can look at rings (for the first time in 4 years!) this weekend, I''ll use this holiday as extra leverage to make sure he fulfills his promise.

Okay, so I''m a nerd and I was inspired by this post. I decided to go get a card and the ingredients to make cupcakes. I got red decorative icing and sprinkles, cake mix with cherry dots and cream cheese icing. I''m going to write I love you on the cupcakes with each letter being a cupcake. I''m terrible, but I just love him so much! I''ll be sure to post pictures.

Yay! So cute. I went all kindergarten-style and made a card with construction paper and markers. Clearly I don''t have enough work to do!

Here''s to hoping everybody has a great Sweetest Day! My BF has always bought me my favorite flowers and sometimes we''ve gone out to eat dinner, but nothing to special. Maybe this year will be extra special!

i have never heard of sweetest day. sounds, well, sweet. they do not sell sweetest day cards here. i live in PA.

MissKitty: I grew up in Ohio as well... My mother called me earlier this week and asked, "Do you have sweetest day in Colorado?"... And I don''t think we do! I haven''t seen any signs/ads for it aaaanywhere.

I''ve heard that it started w. American Greetings, which has HQ in Cleveland. Maybe that has something to do with it?

I love any day that gives extra reason to be cute and mushy and lovey

Wow, when I read the first post, I definitely thought this was a day you and your SO made up. (BF and I have "Jebuary" to combine our anniversary and Valentine''s Day. I thought it was like that.)
