Hi, everyone! I''ve been quietly and diligently gleaning excellent information from pricescope threads and the internet in general, and I hit a topic that I couldn''t find a thread on (at least a recent thread). I''m starting to feel worry about not finding a dress for our mid-2010 nuptials, and I only started (at my mom''s prodding) to look a few days in NY before I moved to Sydney. Unfortunately I felt too rushed to make a decision and did not order a dress (which if I ordered now would''ve come in early May for my alterations) - they were too expensive for me to just settle on anything so I thought I tried my luck in Australia and their local designers. However, now I''m thinking perhaps custom is the way to go. It will be an intimate garden wedding, and usually sheath dresses come to mind, but I found that they look rather unflattering on me. I do have a specific look in mind - an ethereal, one-shoulder, modified mermaid look, if that makes any sense at all. Do any of the BIWs in Australia have recommendations/suggestions for a great bridal dressmaker?

I will also try the ready-made dresses at Karen Willis Holmes and Pallas, names that came up in my research... are there any other Australian designers I should look into?

I know this isn''t a custom dress but check out Rose & Ruby, I was in the paddington store recently and the weddings dresses are gorgeous! My friend also bought her wedding dress (which was custom) from Corston Couture and it was stunning. She was the most beautiful bride I have ever seen!

Thank you, Smo! I sent an email to Corston Couture to inquire about their custom process. For ready-made dresses, I''ve added to the list to visit Ruby & Rose and Collette Dinnigan which is apparently near Ruby & Rose.
