Tab or Ball Prongs?

I received my ring and hated the ball prongs, so had it redone.

Here is a pic of original prong work (left) vs current setting the jeweler just completed and asked for my opinion.

I am a little frustrated, because I wanted a smaller, more petite prong to not take away from the diamond.

The below picture is what we discussed w the left photo being the inspiration for a more petite prong— and the right being the current setting the jeweler just sent me pics of:

It feels like the new prongs are wider and stubbier— and I really wanted a more delicate, petite prong.

Additionally, I was going for likely this look for my band and worried about matching prongs w the wedding band, given the current prongs on engagement ring are so squarish...

Can you all help? I definitely do not want claw prongs— but wondering if there is something in between or you have any good examples of similar settings? Please help me:)

Your jeweller may be thinking security over style but I'd have a chat to see if you can thin out the prongs so they are less wide but have a more squared finish than a claw prong.

I would think that claw prongs would get you the delicate prongs that you want, but since you don't want claw prongs, all I can suggest is asking the jeweler if they can thin down the ones you have without tapering the ends like a claw.

petite tab prongs are nice imho.

one thought, your prongs may look more delicate in real life. but in any case the jeweler should be able to slim them down so they look closer to the tiffany style prongs
