Hi Everyone! I inquired about an OEC that looked so promising-until I saw the clarity plot.

Would this clarity plot scare you off? This is a GIA SI1.

The large greens are naturals - part of the original rough diamond left by the cutter. The rest may well be chips (bad) or abrasions caused by the original cutter that are called bearding. GIA may not grade those features harshly.

Thanks for weighing in Gary. Would a stone like this have to be bezel set to protect the girdle?

Hard to know without seeing it - but if I am correct - the naturals have survived for 100 years. It really needs to be sent to Dave Atlas or Neil Beaty for a proper appraisal - but pop up the entire GIa report? Make sure the stone is on hold for you first.

The stone is in another country so I'm not comfort putting it on hold right now. But here's a video (not sure how helpful it is).

Looks like a knife edge girdle.
If you bought this to me to set you would sign a huge waiver that I would force you to wear around your neck in a lariat ;-)

This was my gut feeling about the stone. Thanks for confirming it!

It’s beautiful! It definitely doesn’t look like the plot!

It’s very pretty. Can the girdle be cleaned up?

Yes but at a cost and making the diameter smaller
Just find another stone?

It’s a pretty stone. But due to the inclusion locations and number, I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing a recut. Plus, I’d be paying for diamond weight that I need to cut away.

Oops @newworlddiamond this response was for you.
