Did you tell your friends/family that your ER was bought on the internet?

If so, how did your friends respond? If not, what did you say?

Why wouldn't you? These days people get their SPOUSES off the internet, so really... the diamond ring? Not a big deal.

Besides, it's not like the net is like the Matrix. It's not a computer program. There are real people and real businesses behind those sites, many of our PS vendors have brick and mortar stores, and even the ones that don't have public retail storefronts do sell in person by appointment.

I didn't get my stone from a PS dealer (the net jewelry business wasn't really up and running for asschers back in the day). But ... all my other jewelry (including my custom setting for my ER) has been from PS vendors (or repaired by them ... lol) and when people ask I tell them exactly where I got it.

Besides, I'd rather educate people than lie to them. And Tiffany's? No big for me. Seriously. All my pieces from PS vendors can go toe to toe with what they've got, and even beat them out, frankly.

I buy all my jewelry from the internet now. You get such better quality and quite often, a better deal. Plus, you can find unique items.

My sister wants to go looking at earrings this week, all I can think about is how she''d save money and get much prettier ones if she bought them online!

FI wasn''t shy at all about the fact that he bought my ER "on the internet" - i.e. Whiteflash. In fact, it was something he was proud of. For those who balked at the idea, all it took was a short explanation of why online buying gives you quality for cost, images you don''t find in stores (Idealscope, ASET), and the availability of ACA/AGS0 diamonds. And trust me, when that ring came in and was on my hand, everyone was floored. Two people have said they''ve never seen a more sparkly princess diamond, and another friend flat out told her boyfriend, she now wants her diamond from Whiteflash.

My ring was custom made from a local jewler but If it wasn''t I would have found something just as nice via internet!

If I did get an ER off the webb I would wear it and tell people just as I have with my local made ring!

Nobody''s asked. I told FI when she asked where I found the setting--no one else, except the jeweler who just finished the custom wedding band to match, has cared. I would tell them if they did ask.

I tell them when I''m spreading the word about Whiteflash and trash B&M stores, lol!
Seriously, I have no qualms about telling people. The deals are fantastic, as long as your vendor is reliable. I could not have been happier with my ring purchased online!

I tell everyone I know who''s looking for a ring, "Go to Whiteflash!!"

My e-ring was not purchased online but every other item of daimond jewelry I buy from now on will be! I don''t think it''s embaressing telling people, you''re really doing them a favour by letting them know there are better and cheaper options out there. Especially for those of us in NZ/AUS, I''d much rather people know about buying daimonds online then get ripped off by way overpriced local stores.

I met FF online, so why not get all my bling from there too?

I tell everyone who asks (and that''s not many) the full story behind both my stone (lots to tell there) and setting (not much to tell there). Why not?

Ditto. I don''t walk around telling people, but when someone asks I tell them.
