Tennis bracelet - should I or shouldn’t I?

I had my eye on an amazing antique diamond bracelet which my local jeweller sent away for valuation and decided not to sell but to break up (cries). As a consolation he has offered me a diamond 5ctw tennis bracelet. I’ve been told the stones are F/G vs. It’s pretty and I’ve had one on my bucket jewellery list (it’s not a item that makes my heart skip a beat, just something I’d like to own). He’s offered it to me for a really great price until tomorrow, $3,000.

I went looking in other shops, and the prices were way way over that. It was sparkly, but perhaps not quite as sparkly as some I’ve seen (that may be the lighting). I did look outside but it was a dull day so none of them looked spectacular, even the ideal cut ones.

So the question is, given that I’d like a diamond tennis bracelet but it’s not my most wanted piece ever - do I get this one at a great price, with less confidence of the cut of the diamonds, or wait and spend quite a bit more and get something I know is super duper.

What would you do??

HI:

MY DH once said to me "I never want you to look at your hand and wonder why it was a bargain". He's never said anything this sage before--I thought it was worth repeating here.

cheers--Sharon

Hold out for antique stones!

What style was the antique bracelet? Perhaps we can find you a similar one.

Now, this is what I love about this community. Thank you everyone! My gut is telling me it didn’t have my heart, but my head worries that it’s a good deal and it’s a diamond bracelet.

This is the one I really wanted. I should have just bought it the day I saw it as I had a gut feeling it would never return from its valuation. Such a crime to break it all up. Sadly it wasn’t meant to be…. IMG_7881.jpeg

I can understand your angst. This bracelet is stunning and the other bracelet is no comparison. As BB/HD wrote....walk on by........

I agree with you all, he did say he will get the bracelet back in January, minus some of the bigger stones - but what a hassle. If I hear any more about that I’ll be back to agonise what to do… urgh, jewellery vendors. I should have bought it when I saw it, but had gone out for some bread - not a diamond bracelet. Probably one that will haunt me….

I read hesitation in your post already, I would pass.

I realize this is a different style, but it is a gorgeous vintage bracelet... (And I really need someone else to buy it before I finally give in and do it!!!)

There is no contest between this stunner and a tennis bracelet, especially one without ideal cut stones. I can see why you fell in love with this.

Oh... NO... !!! I've already gotten one diamond bracelet for x-mas and two more potentials are in the works. I do NOT need this one!!! (Although I want it desperately... )

But the OP might like it!!!

Oh, but need and want are two different animals! Don't let it be the one that got away - lol!
