First time buying a tennis bracelet. What’s a good size for both everyday and formalwear? Debating between 25 pointer and 20 pointer.

There's a great thread showing perspective shots of tennis bracelets. Hopefully it'll help you decide.

It totally depends on your lifestyle, social circle and where you live. I'd recommend you try on a variety of bracelets at jewelry stores to get a feel for what you like.

Some of us purchase CZ tennis bracelets as testers as well. I ordered three of different sizes from Ross-Simons, returned two, and kept one to wear while waiting on my real bracelet to be completed. Having the CZ bracelet has given me a good sense of how often I'd wear a real bracelet and whether or not I'd get Diamond Shrinkage Syndrome at the size I was planning to purchase.

This was very helpful, thank you so much for sharing!

It depends on a combination of lifestyle, personal style and build, and budget, IMHO.

I had cheapo diamond tennis bracelets in the past from eBay, did not like them as they were prong set so I sold them and managed to recoup what I spent as fine jewellery is expensive in UK.

I then bought a bezel set bracelet with 3mm CZ in Rhodium-plated White Gold and wore that as a stacker with other bracelets, replaced twice when they got dull.
I like that size as a stacker bracelet.

Eventually, I took the plunge and had one made with 5ttw H/I SI/I stones with 3mm stones, and bring that out for dressier occasions.
On a day to day basis, I still wear a costume one bought from Berricle so that I don't have to baby it.

I am contemplating having a Princess cut one, bar set in White Gold, and for my budget, I would only be able to get one with 2.2mm stones, which will be fine as a stacker.

I seldom wear just one bracelet or bangle, and prefer to stack at least 2, sometimes 3 depending on what I am wearing and the occasion.

Instead of spending a lot more on just one tennis bracelet with say 0.5ct round stones each about 6mm in size (about 7mm when bezel set), I would rather have a wilder statement bracelet made with smaller pave set stones in an Art Deco style, about 15mm in width or wider, so that I could wear just one bracelet.

Each to their own etc...

DK :))

I was unsure if I wanted to go with 0.4 or 0.5 carat diamonds, so I followed your suggestion to get some CZs to see the difference in size! I purchased CZ bracelets in the stone size & bracelet length (6") I wanted from ebay & etsy. It helped so much! Because of this method, I realized I actually wanted 0.7 - 0.8 carat diamonds, not 0.4 or 0.5.

Before I tried this, I actually thought 0.7 - 0.8 carat diamonds were far too large for me. Additionally I figured out the diamond size that is actually too large for me (at least right now) - 1 carat per diamond.

You say that now @glitterbomb, but I think it would make a fabulous addition to your collection when you’re ready ;-) I’ve seen it “in the wild” once or twice, once on a petite, 30ish year old woman and trust me it looked phenomenal! </enabling>

So glad this helped!

Your new bracelet is amazing and I think it looks perfect on you!

Hi! How long did it take before you knew exactly what size you wanted? Did you decide to go with a size you’d wear daily or more occasional?

As of now I feel for me the 20 pointer is ideal for daily wear. The 25 feels a little overpowering on my wrist. I know it’s such a small difference but when you see them side by side I totally can tell! My only concern is with time will I get so adjusted to the 20 that the 25 will be more desirable? I will lose money upgrading so just want to make the right call.

I haven’t been able to find testers that are Oval. And because they’re elongated I feel it’s hard to compare to a tester of a different shape.

Just another thought to consider. Do you want the bracelet to be an accessory to whatever rings or jewelry you will be wearing on that hand/arm or are you looking for it to be a stand alone piece with a lot of wow factor? I think that makes a difference too.

Ideally both lol

Ha! Personally, I think of my bracelets as accessories rather than a large piece of jewelry. However, having said that, it is still hard to choose a stone size sight unseen. I feel your pain!
