Thank you all! I posted awhile back, asking for help finding an engagement ring that my boyfriend could afford and I would like. We looked and looked and looked some more, and eventually went with Blue Nile. We liked their positive reviews. It also helped my confidence that they generally received positive comments on Pricescope. I don''t have the ring yet to show, as my boyfriend just bought it last night, but we got a 1.01 carat round, VS2, H; very good cut, symmetry and polish; with medium flourescence, depth 59%, table 56%, girlde medium to thin, and cutlet none. I had it set in a platinum half bezel, because I''m a total klutz and have already managed to chip and crack diamonds on a right hand ring. I would have had NO IDEA what any of the diamond specs meant had I not spent three months lurking here, reading everything, and I''m sure if I had spent more time I would have learned more and had an even harder time finding a diamond, because the choices are overwhelming when I learned more. I thought it would be easier when I knew more, but that sure wasn''t the case.

I''ve never met a nicer group of people. Everybody was helpful and kind, and everybody is respectful and encouraging to the other posters on the site. I really enjoyed my time here, even though I didn''t say much, and I want to thank everybody for answering my questions, providing such great information, and being so nice.

When I get the ring I''ll try to post a picture. Sometimes when I look at the beautiful rings here, designed and made by the top in the field, I think mine will look so plain, but I''ve never been so excited about anything in my life, because it''s not just a ring, it''s a marriage and committment, and so my ring will be the most beautiful I''ve ever seen.

Thanks again everybody!

Congratulations!! It sounds beautiful--I love a half bezel setting--and I can''t wait to see pics!! Yay

Okay guys, help me out! I''ve been trying to post photos of the ring, and it wont work! It keeps saying something is wrong with the URL. Any ideas?

I''m going to swing by Joe Escobar''s store in San Jose tomorrow, to have the setting checked, as we are nearing the return period with Blue Nile. I got his name from this site, so I''m sure it will be wonderful. I asked for the fee to check the setting, and even though I didn''t get it there, they said NONE. So thanks Pricescope people for even MORE information that''s helpful!

Thank you thanks you sevens one for posting the photos for me! You are wonderful!

THAT is my ring! Yay! Again, thank you everybody for helping me, and I love it and am so very happy with it. Now...to search for the band I want to go with it...my fiancee is going to strangle me by the time this is done!

THANK YOU

Loverly! Looks wonderful.....and perfect for your hand!

What about something like this classic look?

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking! A platinum band with staggered diamonds (are they called inlaid or bezel? I don''t know), OR an eternity band. BUT I would want it small, 2-3 mm, because the ering band is pretty wide. You read my mind! I''ve already been pricing them online!

I love that look.
My friend has long fingers and she wears the same ering with the etoile type band on one side and a same-width plain band on the other. It''s a nice look on her. The two bands are gold and the ering is white gold.

I love your ring...it makes a beautiful statement...and the idea for the band sounds great too! Congratulations!

What do you think of mixing platinum with white gold? I love the etoile (thanks for letting me know what it''s called!) look, but it''s expensive in platinum. Do you think a white gold band, polished, would look okay next to the platinum engagement ring? It would make it much more affordable. I was also looking at the rings by Chris Correia, the gumdrop band, and I think it''s gorgeous, but may be a bit TOO funky with the rather modern setting I have.

Thanks! I went back and read some of the older posts on white gold vs platinum and wearing them together. I came away with no resolution. Some people say it''s fine, some don''t, some say white gold turns yellow, others don''t, same say get 19K, some don''t....I don''t know! I priced white gold vs. platinum etoile bands like the one sevens one showed, and it''s about 600 bucks difference, which is not insignificant. BUT, if white gold is going to yellow or wear away the platinum band of the e-ring, maybe it''s better to just get the platinum. Which leads me right back to NOT KNOWING! But at least I know what I want...I''ve fallen in love with the etoile type ring sevens one showed, and that''s going to be it. Now...to convince the financee.....

Beautiful, love the half bezel on your hand!

I also like that ring that was posted for wedding...or what about a very thin platinum eternity flanking on each side? aka 2mm or less? YUM!

When you are in JE tomorrow, try on a few different looks, they have TONS of thin eternity bands...I was there when I tried on a 10 stone diamond ring and then flanked it with 2 super thin eternity bands, one on each side, and I LOVED that look. I have been secretly craving that for a right hand ring look for a year. I have the 10 stone so far but no bands...hehe.

I will! I thought about that too, a thin pave band. But I keep coming back to the etoile band...it''s so beautiful! I''ll let you know how it goes at JE tomorrow, and if I change my mind. The hunt begins!

I love that band! But then, I''m partial, because it''s the wedding band I wear myself.

I am in love with the bezel engagement ring, by the way. It is just so classy. I''m a die-hard fan of that Bluenile design. Congratulations!!!

Exceldiamonds.com also has this one on sale for $345 with additional % off.
I love this one. They offer it in a Matte finish but it wouldn''t take much to polish to a nice shine instead.
I have no problem mixing metals. The patina may change over time.

I went to Joe Escobar today; what a beautiful store! They looked at my ring and said it was fine, and even polished it! So, it''s staying! We can come to the end of the 30 day return with no regrets.

I did look at bands, and still chose the original one I thought I loved best, the one sevens one posted. Milgrain looked icky with it, too old fashioned, and although the bling with the huge diamond eternity band was gorgeous, I don''t think the fiancee would go for spending another $3000 to $4000 on a band. Well, maybe, if he thought it would shut me up for a bit. But it wont!

At JE the band would be roughly about $1500, they use F-G VS diamonds, and it''s about .10 carat weight in platinum. At Blue Nile, it''s $1000, lower quality diamond, H S2, but higher carat weight, .20. Does it really matter if they are VS or S2 if they are teeny tiny and bezel set in the band? If I get the whole set from Blue Nile, where would I take it to get them polished and checked occasionally? I feel like a dweeb hitting up a jewelry store to do that, with no intention of buying anything. Do other people feel that way? What do you do when you bought something on the internet but want it polished and checked?

As always, I come away with MORE questions than I started with!

I love your ring

I have a local jeweler (actually 2) who clean my rings and all that...and I definitely will consider purchasing from them in the future..just not loose diamonds. But they are fair game for pendants and/or other fashion jewelry!

You have EVERY right to be thrilled- what a beautiful ring!
Here''s to wonderful & happy life together!!!!

Congratulations, i love your ring! Maybe it''s because it''s similar to mine. I''m also looking for a wedding band now and i love how etoile style bands look with half-bezels. Great combo!
