Thank You notes? Drinking Games!

So, let''s invent some drinking games to make writing thank you notes with the new DH more fun, when the time comes. If it''s fun, it will get done sooner, right? RIGHT? OK, so obviously, actually executing one of these soon-to-be games could be risky, but I think it makes for some entertaining posting, no?

Ideas?

take a sip every time you use the word "thank" or "appreciate" or some variant thereof.
that ought to make it more fun, though possibly messy.

I would suggest a drink anytime you have to use a euphamism such as "unusual" or "interesting" or "Where on earth did you find this?" to replace the "WTF were you thinking...do you even know us?" that you want to write.

ETA: I don't mean to sound ungrateful, and I was so blessed by so many people. However, we did get two gifts that, to this day, make me wonder if the guests actually hate one or both of us.

But there has to be some challenge to it, so maybe you can only take a drink each time you come up with a new synonym for "grateful" or "lovely" or something.

Or to make it even harder, how about a word - random, slightly awkward word that wouldn''t normally be found in a thank you note - and each time one of you manages to work it into a thank you note, you take a drink. You''d be slightly less drunk, and it would be more of a challenge.

Hmmmm. What might that word be though?

this is such an appropriate thread for me right now...work has irritated me to the point of having a strong desire for a drink AND I just bought my first thank you card for our first engagement gift!

I think a good game would be something like:

1 sip for adding a new "thanks" phrase you haven''t used in any of the other cards

2 sips for being able to write a thoughtful note without mentioning the exact name of the gift (this might be really tough)

Full drink if you can tactfully work in "..and we didn''t even think once of returning it!

What a great idea! Definitely the only way I''ll get my SO to help. How about a penalty drink for every exclamation point?!

Or one sip every time you use a word that has your first initial or your DH''s first initial. If you have really common letters (say, "A"), you could say any time you use your initial AND your DH''s initial. I''m P and he''s J, so this could result in too much sobriety...

One sip every time you misspell some really common word? Once you''ve written 5 notes, this could spiral downhill too quickly though.

Actually, I kind of like the idea of being known as the bride who wrote the drunken thank you notes.

Just kidding. Actually, that's pretty damn unlikely since I can't remember the last time I was drunk (though I definitely like a drink or two now and then). In fact, I confess that I've never actually played a drinking game!

I just find the idea hilarious.

Oh, I just remembered the last time I was well and truly drunk. The night we got engaged. Champagne kept appearing. By the end of the night. I was TANKED! Gosh, that was a fun night actually. Maybe I should get drunk more often. Hell maybe I should get engaged more often. Came out of that one with a slight headache, and some serious bling.

LOL! If only the bling magically appeared every time you got tanked! I would seriously drink more often, too, if that were the case, but alas, I find it''s easier to just stay sober!

Yeah, Anchor, mostly I just like the idea. In fact, it''s still kind of cracking me up. I know, i''m not supposed to laugh at my own jokes, but there it is.
