So my van craeynest setting has been languishing ever since my 5 stone reset (Which I still love!), and I had a hard time deciding what to put it in. The dream was always to put a warmer colored OEC in there since it has such an antique look anyways, but I couldn't justify spending a lot of money on a 1ct oec, and finding one that had warmer colors isn't terribly easy.

But then I came across a perfect stone in a vintage ring, it was chipped pretty obviously along part of the girdle so it was a steal, and my jeweler felt confident she could safely bezel it. So basically she is going to put the OEC in a yellow gold tapered bezel, and then cut the current prongs and solder the bezel to the shortened prongs if that makes sense... Something like that anyways, lol. It shouldn't affect the van craeynest engraving at all since she's only doing work on the head.

Anyways, some before pics of the ring/diamond. Just because I'm excited!
It weighs 1.05 ct (she weighed it) and is about 6.2mm (..she didn't measure it yet, lol, I was too excited to ask!). O/P color, no fluoro.

What a great project! That setting is simply too gorgeous to leave empty. I'm excited to see what the finished product looks like; it sounds like you've got a very competent jeweller. :appl:

Beautiful MTG! I can't wait to see how this one turns out!! Congrats! :appl:

It's a consolation prize to distract me from not being able to buy your gorgeous ring!!!

Haha, yeah, she's great although definitely not for most PSers. She's not very detail oriented, and she rarely responds to emails in a timely manner these days (I physically went to her today to drop off the stone and talk about the project, lol), but she's a great jeweler with very fair prices, and while I wouldn't hire her for delicate, detailed work, she's very good at bezels and straight forward designs/alterations.
