Short version: IT HAPPENED! I can now call my BF FI or FH
And, even with all my expectations he still managed to surprise me
Long version: I need to start with a little background.
1: More than 2 years ago, our first date was at Disneyland, lunch at the Blue Bayu, and fireworks canceled due to high winds.
2: During our first few dates, I had been complaining about how I wanted the Ipod Mini, but they phased it out and came out with this Nano thing that I loathed back then. 2 weeks after our first date, he showed up at my apartment and gave me and Ipod mini that he bought on ebay, in pristine condition and color that I wanted. We had our first kiss that night.
3: Last year, when we started talking about getting married, we had a take out dinner from Taco Bell. One of the hot sauce packet said "Will You Marry Me?". He tossed it to me and said "here, how about this?". I returned it to him and said "No, because I want a ring, and you need to ask my dad's permission."
4: Later last year, before he asked my dad for his permission, my aunt was asking us stuff, and when we were talking about the ring, she took out a little jewelry box and said "here, you should use this". My BF said thank you, and it's been on his living room floor since. I thought that if I see the box gone from the floor, it means he has the ring and is getting ready to propose.
5: By the 3rd gen Nano, I was really impressed with the design and capacity that I was talking to him that I was thinking about getting one, but the Mini is too precious to me and I couldn't bear the thought of buying a "replacement"
Saturday morning, I got to his place and the ring box was still on the floor. My heart sank, but I mannaged to switch back to "good, patient, trusting girlfriend" mode, and proceeded to enjoy the day. Of course I was thinking about how I'm going to tell PS that it didn't happen, but I was really enjoying his company (boy, was I proud of myself!
).
We got to the park at 2PM, and we both had to pay a $20 admissions fee, and the boat rental was $35. I insisted that paying $40 is bad enough, so save the boat for later, and we will have a nice picnic somewhere on the ground. He wanted the boat really badly, but I told him NO. He sighed, and we went for a nice hike. Lunch was fun, we were laughing about the fact that we were eating next to a porter potty, and we were admiring some hawks that flew down low.
We got up, I was ready to go on. He said hold on and handed me a big delivery box from his camel-pack addressed to his work. I thought he just wanted me to hold it while he packed up our stuff, so I was just sitting there looking stupid with a FEDEX delivery box. He laughed and told me to open it. I opened it, and inside there was a smaller box (but still bigger than a jewelry box) surrounded by 5 of those Taco Bell packets. I was confused, didn't know what to think, and stared at him some more.
He laughed again, and said "open the smaller box!". I opened it, and in there is a brand new Ipod Nano, engraved with the words "For my darling choro72", in the same color was my Ipod Mini. At that point I screamed and hugged him
. I was stroking it, but I didn't want to take it out in the grass. He insisted that I listen to the music. So I proceeded to look for the headphones, and he had tucked my ring together with the headphones! Being the silly girl I am, I completely didn't see the ring, took out the headphones, stuck it in the ipod and started browsing through. BF said "No, No, No, look carefully!!!!". I looked, finally saw the ring, screamed again, and hugged him again.
He took the ring, and whispered "Will you marry me?", and I trembled "y...s", and he starts to slip the ring on my wrong hand
I corrected him, and now I had a ring on the correct finger
I looked at the music list, and found out that he had spent 3 days working on the song list with titles that matched our relationship history, pictures of us together, etc. We took some pictures, walked some more, and went home for a bit. The ring was actually too big for me, so we went to Claire's to buy one of those Ring Snuggies and now it's perfect! We went to Disneyland, saw the parade, rode a bit of the train, and went to Blue Bayu for our dinner. Mmmmm, delicious dinner, Key Lime pie, and many pictures to follow.
He asked me if I would have preferred him to propose like MissErin's FI did, but I cannot fathom it done another way. After dinner we went out to see the firworks, but they stopped the show right in the middle due to high winds! It was as if Disneyland was cooperating to complete the cycle of our relationship! So we went to the shop, bought a cute picture frame to of course frame one of the pictures we took that day []
He told me that he purposefully left the jewelry box that my aunt gave him, because he knew I was looking at it from time to time, and he wanted to throw me off! Sneaky boy
Thank you SOOOOO much PS ladies! I love you all!
My head is still in whirl after 2 days, but I'm sure I've bored you with the long story already so that's it for now!
