The backstory and many before/after photos and information can be found here: https://www.pricescope.com/communit...recut-by-brian-gavin-before-and-after.242389/

I'll just leave this post for the final products :appl:. Thanks again to ALL who helped along this journey... from choosing a vendor to do the recut to choosing a new setting to deciding whether or not to add a donut to the stem... you made this journey much more fun and much less stressful. All told, the entire process took a little over three months (including the AGS certifying and custom handmade settings). There were a few bumps along the way, but nothing major. Communication was fine and expectations were in line with what was delivered. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend using them for another recut.

On with the show! Presenting my Super Ideal AGS000 diamonds, now measuring .846ct (6.06mm, E/SI2) and .858ct (6.12mm, D/SI1), set in BGD handcrafted milgrained bezels with LaPousette stems (recycled from my original setting, in keeping with the theme of trying to keep as much of the original gift as possible). Their bezeled settings don't usually have a donut but I like wearing my earrings tight and I'm paranoid about stretching my piercing from jamming the stem too far into the flesh so the donut should save me =)2. Anyway, here are my new babies!!! :kiss2:

Gorgeous, @ILikeShiny! And so nice to see even a bit of your beautiful face. :))

Congratulations on a job well done; these are earrings to wear for a lifetime!

They turned out beautifully!!! I absolutely love the way you had them set...the milgrain bezels with the doughnut base...my favorite style for bezels!

Stunning, and thanks for the info on the recutting process, you look beautiful with those on. Positively glowing!

@ILikeShiny your newly recut earrings look stunning! BGD did a fantastic job on the recut and you picked the most gorgeous settings for them. They look beautiful on you!

Beautiful!!

Gorgeous, and I love the settings.

Can you tell a difference?

Thank you! My first impressions are truly very satisfied. The biggest difference I notice is the fire and life they have now. They were always brilliantly white since they’re D/E color, but I see now that when they sparkled they only sparkled white light. And there were a lot of dead spots within them. It’s not something I would have put my finger on before but now it’s incredibly obvious to me!

they look beautiful on you!

Stunning!!!!! They truly came out beautifully and WOW what a fantastic size on you!!! The milgrained bezels are perfection :lickout:

Ok, you made me blush! Especially since I felt scraggly, as I was off to get a haircut =)2. I just couldn’t wait that long to take the photos!!!

And I agree... I really feel they ARE earrings for a lifetime. I look at them now and am extra grateful that they’re still the same diamonds DH bought me (but now they’re on steroids ). Maybe one day I’ll have amazing “Mrs-b” studs in my collection too but, if not, I can be content with these =)2

Thanks! I hadn’t seen any bezels with a donut for comparison (I really wanted to see how much it made them protrude from the ears) and BGD somewhat tried to talk me out of doing it (saying this style is a customer favorite as-is and they’ve never had complaints of drooping), but in the end I decided not to waste the chance and go with my gut. Besides, if I end up hating it, I can just have it filed off

Here’s a glamour shot for you!

Thanks so much! I hope to take them on a date very soon :mrgreen2:

Aww, thanks SimoneDi! I give PS credit for the setting choice as I left it to the masses . I wanted bezels but was afraid they’d be bulky, and gratefully I can’t believe how dainty they are. I have a pair of faux bezeled studs that sit higher and have a wider bezel, both factors which make me not like them. These are exactly the opposite and really are perfection =)2

Beautiful!!

Thank you!

they look beautiful on you!

Thanks Sox!

Stunning!!!!! They truly came out beautifully and WOW what a fantastic size on you!!! The milgrained bezels are perfection :lickout:

Didn’t they do a great job all-around?? If I had only bezeled my old earrings (which I considered doing) they would have been nice, but the new setting and the newly added diamond pizzazz is just perfect harmony

They are beautiful and just the right size for your earlobes! These are life keepers - so glad you love them! I love happy endings and this one is perfect!!

The final results are amazing and the bezels turned out beautifully delicate! I think that they look just perfect on your earlobes! We need family shots w/ your ER!

wow, they turned out amazing!

Wow what a great job. Beautiful ❤️

This is a spectacular example of craftsmanship & excellence!! My GAWD, they look AMAZING!!! Complete metamorphosis!! Like a caterpillar into a butterfly!! Absolutely awesome!!
Congrats! They look PERFECT on you!! How wonderful to be able to keep the majority of the original gift, and still improve their performance & presence!!! OUTSTANDING!

Thanks MGR! I appreciate the vote on their size. Even thought I LOVE them right now, I still wonder if DSS will sink in . I guess I could always add some super delicate diamond jackets if that happens, a la VC's Emilya halo

But you're right... it truly is a happy ending =)2

Thanks so much m-2-b! As I said to MGR, I appreciate the vote on their size. And you're right... I love how delicate the setting is. That was my biggest concern... that the bezel would make them look like I was trying to add size vs. add a compliment. And I'd be happy to do a family shot! I just finished a workout and shower though, so the diamonds are all covered in soap residue at the moment . After their nightly soak I'll take a great photo for you :mrgreen2:

wow, they turned out amazing!

Thanks so much!

Wow what a great job. Beautiful ❤️

Wait, how did you do that cute little heart??! Adorable!

(Oh, and thank you for your compliment =)2)

Haha! Yeah, metamorphosis indeed! From crushed ice to blazing arrows . And I agree... I'm super happy that I could keep the majority of the gift :kiss2:

WOW!!! nice result!!!

Beautiful

Perfection!!! Those bezels :kiss2: and the tiny tables!!!

Beautiful pair!. BGD did an Ex. job with the re-cutting.

Oh wow!!! These are gorgeous!!! I LOVE this setting! The BGD bezel in white metal with milgrain is amazing. I've always wanted a pair...and I want a pair of the 18k yg bezel with no milgrain lol. BGD makes flawless settings. Do you feel like the setting makes the stones look larger than say a 6 prong or 8 prong setting?
