I think I might be the first, thanks to the time difference!
Unfortunately both my partner and I had to spend the morning at work (funnily enough, people still get sick on Christmas Day!). However, after work we took a detour to King''s Park, overlooking the city. We go there often, so it didn''t set off alarm bells. Had a bit of a walk around, and then sat down next to the "DNA Tower". When we first started dating, it was a spot he took me to see the lights of the city. Anyway, had a bit of a rest and a talk there, as it was a bit crowded with tourists.
When everyone had wandered away, we made our way up to the top alone. Boyfriend waxed lyrical about how much has happened between now and the first time we climbed up there together and finally blurted out the question.
I think he was feeling very bemused that his thunder had gotten stolen -- right before we went up, another couple had come down and she had a ring on her finger! I guess he thought it made his proposal less remarkable, because it had just happened for someone else -- but it''s a special spot for the two of us, no one else really impacts that.
If anything, I was just thinking of how happy she is as well!
So, a lovely way to spend Christmas in Australia -- in the sunshine and with a stunning new engagement ring!!
Hope others from the list are having great luck over such a loving holiday as well.
