As inspired by the LIW section and Dreamgirl, I thought we could have a BWW small talk thread!

How is everyone, what is new in your life?
5.gif

Nothing much. Going crazy trying to plan a wedding. Or two. Whatever.

What''s going on with your law school stuff Sarah?

hi
35.gif
. I''m luckily done traveling for work for a while (at least for this month ). getting kind of sick of spending more time in Singapore than home. FI also didn''t like it. on Friday we''re heading off to South Africa for a week as I have to go find a photographer, visit the venue, speak with the florist and find a place to get my nails done (taking FMIL for a manicure). I also got us booked for hot stone massages. we''ve decided that when we come back we''re going to join a gym. I sent out my Save-the-Date magnets this week and our wedding website is looking good.

Right now I have butterflies in my stomach thinking I may have found an awesome venue (just like what I always wanted) on paper (a private residence - mansion which would allow me to do my own catering and alcohol) but it will be out of my budget - which is making me want to puke - sad really. Tomorrow I will call a wedding planner and find out hopefully good news, ARGGGGGGH.

Other then that I am thinking it was really stupid making a deal with FI about not eating chocolate or lollies because right now I could do with a little binge comfort.

We just came home last night from a week in the Caribbean...the skies were blue, the water warm...and now it''s grayish and snowy where we live. Le sigh...can''t complain much, though it was wonderful. Grad school starts up for me on Monday.

No true wedding planning done, but sister-in-law to be is getting married this spring, so we had a chance to hear how her planning was coming together.

Hey everyone!!
35.gif

Freke: How have you been doing?
35.gif
Hopefully things are going smoothly! I am now essentially in the waiting period. One of my Fall 2008 grades was wrong
6.gif
6.gif
. Wish me luck on that! I thought the grade was right, but literally after I sent my Fall 2008 grades and decided to check my e-mail for my receipt there was an e-mail from my professor saying oh wait you actually got a higher grade. Which was ironic since I just paid to overnight the grades.
14.gif
Oh well! At least it as that I had an even higher grade and not a lower one, right? I was like well that''s good news I guess! So I won''t feel relaxed until the correct grade is in and I''ve overnighted my new transcript which will hopefully be by next Monday. I made sure to let all of the schools I applied to know that new grades were coming. Enough rambling, give me wedding updates!

noelwr: Hello!
35.gif
I''m glad you''re done traveling for a bit, and I hope South Africa goes great it sounds fun!
5.gif
The gym sounds good, too! Congrats on getting the save the dates out and the wedding website in order!

Deelight: How was the venue have you got to go see it yet? Good news? I know it''s late, but I''m sending dust! Mmm chocolate..well, don''t worry it''s probably for the best I suppose.
14.gif

mayachel: Oh man the Caribbean that sounds wonderful!
30.gif
How did grad school go today, any cool classes?

So how is everyone this week?
1.gif

Bump bump, now I know y''all have something to say!
35.gif

SarahLovesJS I am still looking and looking and looking some more
9.gif
I did view the one I was meant to last weekend and it was really nice but I just didn''t feel it - plus there were a lot of things that I couldn''t change with sprucing so back to square one.

The right one is out there :D:D:D:D, this Saturday I am going with the girls to the beach no wedding planning, or venue viewing just beach which should be nice just take a little break from it all.

I have something non-wedding related
9.gif
....

Me and two of my girlfriends went to our first Zumba class last night and OMG it was so much fun!! We danced around for and hour and laughed and worked up a sweat and today I''m actually sore!! Best workout ever...Didn''t even feel like a workout...I think I''m going to be addicted
9.gif

It was so nice to do something that got my mind off of wedding planning...I feel like that''s the only thing that people ask me about and it''s starting to get old (and I haven''t even been engaged for a month yet)...It was refreshing.

You are too sweet

Message the Admin's to sticky this page for you (and all other months after previous months pass) so all the BIW's can see it!

Yay for small talk threads!!!!! You BWW enjoy yourselves. And don't be shy!

Talk about anything you all want to talk about....

My mom is starting to be one of THOSE moms. ''What?! You can''t do that?! No!!'' You know the type.
20.gif
2.gif
I can''t wear red shoes, we can''t do pics before the ceremony...luckily FMIL is a saint and is my backup when I say YES WE CAN!! LOL...

Speaking of shoes, I bought them yesterday! $21.99 to boot!!

Lets see...

Recently got engaged to the man of my dreams...the same one who incidentally forgot my birthday yesterday!!!

Other than that...not much

Great thread!

Do you guys think it''s ''weird'' to wear suede shoes at a warm-weather DW? I would prefer satin or leather but I came across a cute pair of affordable blue suede shoes but am hesitant about the material...

I had been keeping an eye out on a great pair of Manolos and Louboutins I found but now I''m thinking it''s probably not the best idea to spend so much money on a pair of shoes that might get wrecked in the sand so I''m considering alternatives.

Hi everyone! I have a small bit of wedding info as D picked his suit last weekend and he looks scrummy in it. We also printed mock invites to see how they print and they look great so am thrilled with that. Going bridesmaid dress shopping with my sis on Saturday-cannot wait!
Non wedding related news-am doing large animal experience for my course and it''s so much fun. I have to observe the vet and give him a hand when needed-I''m so used to working in a small animal clinic that it''s great going out and about to the horses/cattle/sheep etc. Love it!

Have a good evening everyone!

Hello Everyone,

Things are coming along, classes started back up this week and work is busy as usual. I am busy with the wedding planning as well as making a TON of wedding jewelry for other brides...I think I bit off more than I can chew when I agreed to do it haha but its fun. Other than that, everything is basically done, excepts for the little odds and ends!

today we went to Town Hall and have now officially received permission to get married. they pretty much inspect all our papers, make sure we''re legally in the country, that we''re not married to other people, or are brother and sister trying to marry each other, that kind of stuff.

I received my color swatches from cardsandpockets.com and it was between a combo of 2 blues. showed my fiance and his friend (which I know could go wrong getting men''s opinions), but they liked the metalic colors the most which is my choice, too. I picked out a blue decorative picture to go on my invitation and inserts, I hope the color will match the paper.

FMIL told FI that he should invite another of his cousins who is psycho. we are inviting her other 2 sisters, but left her off the list. I know that sounds really bad and not proper etiquette, but it''s my wedding and I don''t want anyone there who could potentially ruin it. so I told him we don''t have room for another guest and if it''s that important then his parents must pick one of their other friends to take off the list. he seemed very relieved that I said no, so that''s that. I decided that there is no way I am going to let people bully me into something I don''t want (which is why I''m also leaving everyone else out of the planning). plus I love to plan and organize stuff so this wedding is like a dream come true.

oh, and people are starting to receive our Save-the-Dates but don''t understand 1. it''s a fridge magnet and 2. it''s not an invitation. I guess it''s not done much outside the US. I attached the STDs to cards and wrote our website on the back and FI''s afraid people won''t turn over the card. I said that I''m sure not everyone wants to put a magnet on their fridge or look at someone else''s wedding website. it''s exciting for us our and our family, but I can imagine probably boring for other people.

I''m packed and ready to go to SA tomorrow! I think I''m going to ask work if I can stay an extra week with FI there, but they''ll probably say no. but my mom always says "You already have "No", but you could always get "Yes."

Nothing much to add but I thought I would see what others were up to :).

ams0124 it is good isn''t it some days it feel like all the spare time you have goes to "the wedding".

sunnythose shoes are awesome love the colour they will look amazing with your dress, sometimes I find the best way to deal with unwanted comments is to go "ahhha cool thanks I will think about it" and then completely disregard it
9.gif
9.gif
.

CDNinNYC I don''t think it I weird but definitely waterproof them before I wore them, those shoes are so cute :).

bee* How good do men look in suits
18.gif
, and that is good news about your invites.
GL with your prac and your bridesmaid dress shopping :).

AllieLuv83, Sounds like your busy, busy, busy and having fun YAY :) good luck with the last small things that need to be done.

noelwr Congrats on getting your permission and good luck getting the extra time off *DUST*.

Hope everyone has a great weekend :D.

Cool thread, Sarah! Hi everyone!
35.gif

Noel, I just ordered all the makings for my pocket invites from cards and pockets too! We''re using the lilypad color for the cards and watermelon for the invitation mats and envelopes. Can''t wait to see how yours turn out! What are you using to close the cards? I think I''m using ribbon (mom works at a florist and can get ribbon at wholesale)... but I wanted to do something more creative, I just can''t come up with anything. I did magnets for STD''s too! From vistaprint.

So, 92 days till the big day. Everything seems to be going fairly smoothly. BM dresses picked out/ordered: http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_bycolor_detail.jsp?stid=2805&sid=18019&cfid=53

Organza bags on clearance: http://codwholesale.com/Ribbons/organza_bags.htm I ordered a bunch of balloons and plastic table cloths from this company for a Halloween Party... They have a lot of good deals, if anyone''s interested!

We''re thinking we''ll do mints in the bags, and forego favors but give a donation to the American Cancer Society... FI''s aunt has espohageal cancer that''s spread to her liver, lung, and pancreas... she''s in pretty bad shape, and most likely won''t make it to the wedding
8.gif

Other than that, the biggest thing that''s stressing me out is whether my car will pass inspection. It''s due the end of the month, but they had to run it through the emissions machine 3 times last year. It has 190000 miles, I''ve had it for 11 years. I really need a new car, but don''t want the bill! As long as it keeps running, I don''t see the point, though.

This thread reminds me... I need wedding shoes, too! I also need to get my dress to the seamstress... it basically fits, but the bust needs to be taken in. And boob pads placed.

Bea, Ha! that made me laugh... congrats, though!

Hi ladies-I have had the last 2 days off of work because it has been below zero here in Chicago!
36.gif
SO-I have been looking at all my wedding stuff, making my lists of what''s done and what''s not, and then making myself have a panic attack that there is so much left to do!
32.gif

I went and got a massage yesterday though-which was MUCH needed.

I am glad that all you ladies seem to be moving along with planning.

Bia what did you do to your FI to make him pay for not remembering your bday?
31.gif

CDN I don''t think it''s weird to wear suede, but like Deelight said-waterproof them before!

on the topic of waterproofing - should I waterproof dyed satin shoes as well?

Hi everyone!
35.gif
I will drop by later tonight and respond..I have a horrible cold/virus I caught from FI.
14.gif
It doesn''t seem like a cold, but it''s similar. I can''t stop sleeping..sigh. So I am going to finish my chicken soup and sleep more I guess.

Blair: He says he didn''t forget about my birthday, just forgot that Wednesday was the 14th. LOL He''s been forgiven. As for making it up to me...

He was really sweet. He got me huge bouquet of flowers and great take-out last night for dinner (for the "I''m sorry" part of the gift) and for my b-day gift he gave me a gift cert for a spa day at a spa here in the NYC. Then we''re going to L''Ecole (a restaurant located inside the French Culinary Institute...its amazing!). So yea, I''m over it
2.gif

I posted the story in LIW...its quite funny actually.

Ummm...I made STDs (with some serious help) and I finally made a sample last night! OMG I''m excited about it--it came out exactly how I was thinking (hoping) it would.

Dad, FI and I are meeting tonight to FINALLY hash out the budget and figure out what we''re going to go forward with, the wedding in Vegas AND the reception back home or not.

I''m considering ironing on swarovskis to my Stuart Weitzmans, but I''m kind of scared to. What if I mess them up?!

I''m stressing out a little bit because my cousins are splitting up (I was their flower girl when I was about 2/3) and that''s pretty stressful for our family, but especially for me because I wasn''t planning on inviting any family members to my wedding except for my dad, and now the male cousin is going to move into my dad''s house with him (that is the current plan anyway). So if he''s living with my dad, how do I get out of inviting him?!

I took pics of my mom''s wedding band and ering the other day. I''ll have to post a SMTR thread one of these days...

I don''t know! Oh! I have to go back to school on Tuesday and I am DREADING IT! But I''m taking a series of really easy classes (two core classes and 3 throwaway upper level Sociology classes) so I''m thinking this semester will be much much easier than the last one. But then again, how could it not be?

Oh! And when I was arranging dinner and our talk with my dad last night he said, "I want you to do whatever you want for this wedding. I just hope you invite me. Do I get to walk you down the aisle?" To which I replied, "Haven''t you looked forward to that since the day you brought me home from the hospital? Of course you''re walking me down the aisle!" and he chuckled and said, "Yeah, I have. I''ve never gotten to do that before." (I had 3 older brothers.) But I thought that was incredibly cute.

Ok, I have to go make lists to take to dinner tonight.

Bia-glad that he made the day special for you. On my birthday, FI forgot to say it early in the morning too...men
9.gif
ETA: Just read your LIW thread...I think you should get him a date book with all the important dates marked in RED
9.gif

I just got back from looking at invitations. I really like some William Arthur ones that I found, but the price is a little more than I expected (especially with things like double envelopes, reception cards, and RSVP's). I am currently trying to find some stuff online but am a little leery about ordering invites online. I ordered STD's and was happy, but invitations are a little different to me.

Freke That is really cute about your dad. I get teary-eyed everytime I think about my dad walking me down the aisle, and our father-daughter dance. I can't imagine what I will be like on the day of the wedding! As for your shoes, I would practice on a pair you don't care about (you probably don't have one of those though!
9.gif
) I wouldn't want to risk ruining the Stuart's!!!

Hello all!
35.gif
*does CPR on BWW small talk thread* Any new updates? How''s life?
35.gif

I raided the Dollar Store today for wedding related items. My bounty included 15 7" or so tall cynlinder pillar candle holders for either center pieces or for the windows of our venue. I also got 4-32 oz bags of river rocks. I have a thing for pillar candles nestled in river candles in a hurricane lamp or some sort of glass container.

I have a feeling that many trips to the Dollar Store are in my future.

oohhh, C-tek, I had nearly forgotten about the glories of the Dollar Store. Must make a mental note to go exploring sometime soon - sounds like you came out with some good finds!

Haven''t done too much planning stuff lately - but we did book a bagpiper for the ceremony! I love bagpipes, and am very excited about it!
